 TRAFFIC ALERT AND COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM (TCAS) - ADJUSTMENT TEST

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure has two tasks. One is an operational test and the other is a system test. The operational test is a fast test of the TCAS system. The system test uses a ramp test set to examine the TACS system. To fully examine the TCAS system, do the operational test and the system test.

 2.  Operational Test - TCAS_______________________
 A.  General
 (1)  This test is to make sure the TCAS is operates correctly. It uses only the system's Built In Test Equipment (BITE) functions and special test or ground equipment is not necessary.

Make sure this circuit breaker is closed:


 (a)  P7 Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7A5, TCAS

 (3)  Align all the IRS systems (AMM 34-21-00/201).
 NOTE:____Make sure the IRSs are aligned. If you do not, you could have a TCAS computer latch fail. If you have a TCAS computer latch fail, clear the latch by cycling the TCAS circuit breaker or do another TCAS self test.

 (5)  Set the transponder select switch on the ATC control panel (refered to as the control unit for the rest of this section) to the 1 or L position.

Set the Navigation Display (ND) mode selector switch on the EFIS control panel to map mode.

 (a)  Make sure the ND shows the TCAS OFF indication.

 (10) Set the mode switch on the control unit to the XPNDR position.
 (a)  Make sure the ND shows the TCAS OFF indication.

 (11) Set the mode switch on the control unit to the TA position.
 (a)  Make sure the ND shows the TA ONLY and TFC indications.
 NOTE: Traffic may be shown on the Navigation Display (ND)
____ depending on the location traffic in the area. A yellow TRAFFIC indication will apear if a TA occurs. Except in the TEST mode, Resolution Advisory (RA) traffic (red square) should never be displayed while aircraft is on the ground.

 (12) Set the mode switch on the control unit to the TA/RA position.
 (a)  Make sure the TA ONLY indication continues to be displayed.

 (13) Prepare the CDU for the test:
 (a)  
Push the MENU key on the CDU to show the MENU.

 (b)  
Push the line select key (LSK) that is adjacent to <CMC to show the <CMC MENU.
