If the self-test is initiated by the TEST button on the front panel of the ILS receiver, the LEDs on the front panel will come on to show a pass or fail condition. If the self-test (ground test) is initiated by a request from the CMC, a PASS or FAIL message will appear on the CDU.
NOTE: It is not necessary to have the correct displays on the ND

and PFD to get the ground test to pass.
(a) If the correct displays on the ND and PFD are desired for reference, then: 1) At least one IRU must be aligned in the NAV mode 2) The captain's and first officer's IRS source select
switches should be in the same position as the IRU that is operating and aligned in the NAV mode 3) The heading must be within 90 degrees of the airplane heading.
(3) Prepare for self-test
(a)
Tune the receivers to a valid ILS frequency.
(b)
Set the mode select switch on the EFIS control panel to the APP position.
(c)
Set the APP switch on the standby attitude/ILS indicator to the APP position.
NOTE: To see the self-test results on the standby
____ attitude/ILS indicator, use the left ILS receiver.
(4) Initiate a self-test of the left, right or center ILS by one of the two following methods:
(a) Initiate the test using the TEST button on the front panel of the ILS receiver: 1) Press and release the TEST button on the left, right or
center receiver.
