NOTE: While you retract the inboard flap assembly [1], monitor the deflection control
roller [111] to see if there is preload when it engages the deflection control track
[101].
(b) If there is preload when the deflection control roller [111] engages the deflection control
track [101], then adjust the deflection control roller [111]:
1) Use a adapter, SPL-1679 on the torque tube coupling to extend the outboard flap until
you can get access to the deflection control roller [108].
2) Remove the bolt [105] and washer [104] that hold the retainer [103] and retainer [112] to
the deflection control rib [102]
3) Remove the retainer [112] for the inboard eccentric bushing [109].
4) Remove the pin [106] and loosen the nut [107] on the bolt [110].
5) Turn the inboard eccentric bushing [109] to change the position of the inboard
deflection control roller [111].
NOTE: Make sure you do not change the position of the outboard deflection control
roller [108].
6) Install the retainer [112] for the inboard eccentric bushing [109].
7) Install the bolt [105] and washer [104] that hold the retainer [112] and retainer [103].
8) Tighten the nut [107] finger tight and install the pin [106].
NOTE: If it is necessary, tighten the nut [107] the minimum amount necessary to
install the pin [106].

(9) Extend the trailing edge flaps:
(a) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.
(b) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task: Extend
the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.

(10) With the flaps fully extended, make sure the full surface of the spring assembly [60] on the
inboard carriage [52] touches the door [57] on the wing-to-body fairing and that it holds the door
closed (Figure 401).

(11) If the spring assembly [60] does not touch the door [57], or hold it closed, adjust the position of
the spring assembly [60]:
(a) Loosen the bolts [58] and bolt [59] that hold the spring assembly [60] in its position.
(b) Move the spring assembly [60] until it touches the door [57] with its face parallel to the door.
(c) Tighten the bolts [58] and bolt [59].

(3) If the trailing edge flaps are not in the retracted position, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge
Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
