(1) For the flap position transmitters on the left and right wings, do this task: Flap Position
Transmitter Removal, TASK 27-58-01-000-801.
NOTE: If you do not remove the flap position transmitters, they can become incorrectly
adjusted.

(2) Do this task: Supply Electrical Power, TASK 24-22-00-860-811.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEAR.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE
INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) If the downlock pins are not installed in the nose and main landing gear, do this task: Landing
Gear Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE TE FLAPS AND
FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS. THE FLAPS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND
DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: CAREFULLY MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT IF YOU HAVE DONE WORK ON THE
FLAP CONTROL SYSTEM OR THE FLAP DRIVE SYSTEM. IF COMPONENTS ARE NOT
ADJUSTED CORRECTLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRAILING EDGE FLAP
SYSTEM.
(4) Use the alternate system or the manual drive to retract the trailing edge flaps to the UP position.

I. Trailing Edge Flap Control System Adjustment

CAUTION: DISCONNECT THE TORQUE TUBES FROM THE FLAP POWER DRIVE UNIT BEFORE
YOU ADJUST THE FLAP CONTROL SYSTEM. IF THE FLAP DRIVE SYSTEM IS NOT
ADJUSTED CORRECTLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP SYSTEM.
(1) If the flap drive system is not adjusted correctly, disconnect the torque tubes [18] from the flap
power drive unit [17]:
(a) Install clamp set, SPL-1726 on the torque tubes [18] on each side of the power drive unit
[17].
(b) Remove the screws [14] that attach the coupling sleeves [15] to the splined couplings [16].
(c) Move the coupling sleeves [15] off the splined couplings [16].
(d) Move the torque tubes [18] away from the flap power drive unit [17].

(2) Remove the floor panel to get access to the top of the flap control unit [4], do this task:
Passenger Cabin Floor Panel Removal, TASK 53-21-00-000-801.
NOTE: The floor panel is located between stations 706 and 727B on the right side of the
airplane.

(3) To get access to the turnbuckles [3] for the cables WFA and WFB [1], do this step:

(4) Do the adjustment of the flap control lever [7] and cables WFA and WFB [1]:
(a) Put the flap control lever [7] in the rigged position:
1) Move the flap control lever [7] aft until the detent pin is out of the UP detent.
2) Put a 0.19 inch (4.8 millimeter) thick rigging block between the detent pin on the flap
control lever [7] and the upstop on the detent plate.
NOTE: Make sure the rigging block does not go into the flaps UP detent.
(b) Install a clamp to hold the quadrant [6] against the aft side of the stop [5] on the flap control
unit [4].
(c) Remove the clips [2] from the turnbuckles [3] on the cables WFA and WFB [1].
(d) If you installed a new cable [1], do these steps:
1) Use the turnbuckles [3] to adjust the tension in the cables [1] to 275 ±15 pounds (125
±6.8 kilograms).
2) Remove the clamp from the quadrant [6].
3) Remove the rigging block from the flap control lever [7].
