(d) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE DOWN
position.
1) Make sure that stabilizer leading edge moves up (APL NOSE DOWN).
2) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
(e) Move the stabilizer to approximately 12 units of trim.
(f) Move the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE UP position until
the stabilizer stops automatically.
1) Use the bar, SPL-1677 to measure the "B" dimension.
2) Make sure the "B" dimension is 24.80 ±0.10 in. (629.9 ±2.6 mm).

STABILIZER TRIM CONTROL SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of a stabilizer trim control switch
(2) An installation of the stabilizer trim control switch.
B. The stabilizer trim control switch is referred to as the "switch assembly" in this procedure.
C. The switch assembly has an electrical cable which connects to the terminal block in the control
wheel. If a switch becomes defective, the switch and electrical cable are replaced as an assembly.
D. This procedure is applicable for the captain’s and first officer’s switch assembly.

2. Stabilizer Trim Control Switch Removal

(1) Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag:

C. Switch Assembly Removal

(1) Remove the medallion [2] from the control wheel.
SUBTASK 27-41-97-020-002
(2) Remove the screws [4] from the terminal block cover [3].
(a) Remove the terminal block cover [3].
SUBTASK 27-41-97-020-003
(3) Remove the switch assembly [1]:
(a) Remove the screws [9], washers [8], and washers [10] to disconnect the switch wires from
the terminal block [7].
(b) Remove the terminals from the switch wires to help the removal.
(c) Attach a threading wire to the switch electrical cable.
NOTE: This threading wire that is attached to the electrical cable is to help with the
installation of the switch assembly.
(d) Remove the screws [5] which attach the switch assembly [1] to the control wheel handle.

(e) Slowly pull the switch assembly [1] from the horn of the control wheel until the switch wires
show.
NOTE: Pull until approximately 3 in. (76 mm) of the threaded wire comes out of the
control wheel handle. Do not remove the threaded wire from the control wheel. It
is necessary to use this threaded wire for installation.
