OUTBOARD TRAILING EDGE FLAP - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the outboard trailing edge flap
(2) An installation of the outboard trailing edge flap.
B. This procedure includes the removal and installation of the main flap with the aft flap. You can
remove and install the main flap with the aft flap either removed or installed. For procedures to
remove and install the aft flap only, refer to (TASK 27-51-22-400-801).
C. The outboard main flap and aft flap together weigh approximately 388 pounds (176 kilograms). The
main flap alone weighs approximately 341 pounds (155 kilograms).

F. Outboard Trailing Edge Flap Removal
SUBTASK 27-51-21-020-001
(1) Disconnect the skew control rods [3] from the inboard and outboard carriage [13]:
(a) Remove the nut [18], washer [17], bushing [16], washer [15] and bolt [14] that attach the
skew control rod [3] to the carriage [13].
(b) Move the skew control rod [3] away from the carriage [13].

(2) Disconnect the aft flap drive rods [11] from the inboard and outboard drive rod attach fittings [10]:
(a) Remove the nut [8], washer [7], washer [5], bolt [4] and bushing [6] that attach the aft flap
drive rods [11] to the drive rod attach fittings [10].
NOTE: The aft flap [2] will move down approximately 2 inches when you remove the bolts
[4].
(b) Move the aft flap drive rods [11] away from the drive rod attach fittings [10].

(3) Remove the leading edge skin panel [55] from the main flap assembly [1] forward of the inboard
carriage [12]:
(a) These are the panels:

(b) Remove the bolts [56] that attach the leading edge skin panel [55].
