1) Install a support to hold the ballscrew [42] when it is disconnected from the carriage
[52].
2) Remove the nuts [50], washers [49] and bolts [48] that attach the carriage bushings [51]
to the inboard carriage [52].
3) Remove the carriage bushings [51] from the carriage [52].
4) Move the gimbal [40] away from the carriage [52].
(c) Disconnect the outboard carriage [13] from the gimbal [16]:
1) Install a support to hold the ballscrew [17] when it is disconnected from the carriage
[13].
2) Remove the nuts [11], washers [10] and bolts [9] that attach the carriage bushing
assembly [15] and carriage bushing assembly [26] to the outboard carriage [13].
3) Remove the carriage bushing assembly [15] and carriage bushing [26] from the
carriage [13].
4) Move the gimbal [16] away from the carriage [13].

(d) Use the sling, SPL-1729 to move the inboard flap assembly [1] aft and down away from the
flap tracks.
CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU LOWER THE FLAP TO THE GROUND. YOU CAN
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE FLAP.
(e) Use the sling, SPL-1729 to move the inboard flap assembly [1] outboard and aft away from
the airplane.

(7) Do a check of the configuration of the inboard flap carriage roller cartridges, and inboard seals:
(a) Do a check of the position of the index marks [120] for the carriage roller cartridges on the
inboard and outboard carriages.
NOTE: Make a record of the position to use during the installation.
GUN 155; AIRPLANES WITH SMALL BULLNOSE SEALS
(b) Do a check for undersize seals on the inboard end of the flap assembly [1].
NOTE: If undersize seals are installed on the inboard end of the flap, make a record to be
used during the installation.
GUN 001-099, 101-122, 156, 157, 201-999; AIRPLANES WITH LARGE BULLNOSE SEALS
(c) If you will install a different flap, remove and keep the shim and bullnose seal for the
installation.
