(c) Move the torque tubes away from the transmission.

(4) Adjust the flap drive system for the outboard flap:
NOTE: This procedure is applicable to the drive system for the outboard flap on the left wing
and the right wing.
CAUTION: DO NOT MOVE ONE END OF A FLAP MORE THAN 1.4 INCHES (35.5
MILLIMETERS) OF BALLSCREW TRAVEL MORE THAN THE OTHER END. YOU
CAN CAUSE THE FLAP TO SKEW EXCESSIVELY. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE FLAP.
(a) Use an adapter, SPL-1679 on the coupling on the inboard side of transmission No. 2 to
extend the outboard flap until one of the ballscrew nuts touch the downstop on the
ballscrew.
(b) Make sure the ballscrew nut at transmission No. 1 touches the downstop (Dimension Y =
0).
(c) Make sure the Dimension Y for transmission No. 2 is in the limit of 0.0 to 0.22 inch (0.0 to 5.6
millimeters).
(d) If the ballscrew nuts for transmissions No. 1 and No. 2 are not in the limits, adjust the drive
system for the outboard flap:
1) Disconnect the torque tubes between transmissions No. 1 and No. 2:
a) Remove the screws [14] that attach the coupling sleeve [15] to the splined coupling
[16].
b) Move the coupling sleeve [15] off the splined coupling [16].
c) Move the torque tube away from the transmission.
2) Manually extend the transmissions until the ballscrew nuts for transmissions No. 1 and
transmission No. 2 touch the downstops.
3) Connect the torque tubes between the transmissions No. 1 and No. 2:
NOTE: To align the torque tube couplings, you can retract the transmission No. 2 1/3
of a torque tube turn.
a) Apply grease, D00633 to the coupling sleeve [15].
b) Put the splined coupling [16] in the coupling sleeve [15].
c) Install the screws [14] to attach the torque tube to the transmission.
d) Install lockwire on the screws [14].

(b) Make sure the ballscrew nut at transmission No. 4 touches the downstop (Dimension Y =
0).
(c) Make sure the Dimension Y for transmission No. 3 is in the limit of 0.0 to 0.2 inch (0.0 to 5.1
millimeters).
(d) If the ballscrew nuts for transmissions No. 3 and No. 4 are not in the limits, adjust the drive
system for the inboard flap:
1) Disconnect the torque tubes between transmissions No. 3 and No. 4:
a) Remove the screws [14] that attach the coupling sleeve [15] to the splined coupling
[16].
b) Move the coupling sleeve [15] off the splined coupling [16].
c) Move the torque tube away from the transmission.
2) Manually extend the transmissions until the ballscrew nuts for transmissions No. 3 and
transmission No. 4 touch the downstops.
3) Connect the torque tubes between the transmissions No. 3 and No. 4.

(a) Make sure the ballscrew nuts at transmission No. 1 and transmission No. 4 touch the
downstop (Dimension Y = 0).
(b) Make sure the Dimension Y for transmission No. 2 is in the limit of 0.0 to 0.22 inch (0.0 to 5.6
millimeters).
(c) Make sure the Dimension Y for transmission No. 3 is in the limit of 0.0 to 0.2 inch (0.0 to 5.1
millimeters).
(d) Connect the torque tubes between the transmissions No. 2 and No. 3.
NOTE: To align the torque tube couplings, you can retract the transmission No. 2 1/3 of a
