H. Inboard Flap Outboard Forward Fairing Adjustment
SUBTASK 27-51-18-220-003
(1) Measure the mismatch between the forward fairing assembly [2] and the aft fairing assembly [3].
NOTE: Measure the mismatch on the inboard side and on the bottom of the forward fairing
assembly [2].
(a) Make sure the mismatch is in the limit of +0.03 to -0.01 inch (+0.76 to -0.25 millimeter).
NOTE: A positive (+) mismatch is when the forward fairing assembly [2] extends past
the aft fairing assembly [3]. A negative (-) mismatch is when the aft fairing
assembly [3] extends past the forward fairing assembly [2].
SUBTASK 27-51-18-220-004
(2) Make sure the seals [26] on the sides of the forward fairing assembly [2] are compressed evenly
against the lower surface of the wing.
SUBTASK 27-51-18-020-006
(3) If the mismatch is not in the limit or if the seals [26] are not compressed evenly, do this task:
Inboard Flap Support Forward Fairing Removal, TASK 27-51-18-000-801.
SUBTASK 27-51-18-820-005
(4) If the mismatch between the forward fairing assembly [2] and the aft fairing assembly [3] is not in
the limit, then adjust the position of the forward fairing assembly [2]:
(a) If the mismatch is not in the limit on the inboard side of the forward fairing assembly [2],
adjust the position of the fairing attach fitting [24]:
1) Loosen the bolts [23] that attach the fairing attach fitting [24] to the transmission attach
fitting [21].
2) Move the fairing attach fitting [24] inboard or outboard to get the mismatch in the limit.
3) Tighten the bolts [23].
(b) If the mismatch is not in the limit on the bottom of the forward fairing assembly [2], change
the thickness of the shims [25].
1) Apply primer, C00259 to the mating surfaces of the shim [25] and the fairing attach
fitting [24].
SUBTASK 27-51-18-820-006
(5) If the seals [26] are not compressed evenly against the lower surface of the wing, adjust the
position of the seals [26]:
(a) Loosen the nuts [27] on the retainer [28].
(b) Move the seal [26] and the retainer [28].
NOTE: Make sure you move the seal [26] and the retainer [28] together as a unit.
(c) Tighten the nuts [27] that hold the retainer [28].
