a) If you find any metal debris or corrosion, replace the stabilizer jackscrew actuator:
(Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Removal, TASK 27-41-81-000-801)
(Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Installation,
TASK 27-41-81-400-801).
NOTE: Metallic debris in the grease may indicate wears of the balls in the ballnut.
2) Examine the area above, on and around the jackscrew gearbox to see if grease is
coming out from the ballnut.
a) If you find large amount of grease, replace the stabilizer jackscrew actuator:
(Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Removal, TASK 27-41-81-000-801)
(Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Installation,
TASK 27-41-81-400-801).
NOTE: Large amount of grease around the the jackscrew gearbox may indicate a
faulty seal or raised return tube on the ballnut.
(f) Examine the following areas for ball bearings:
NOTE: The ball bearings dimension are 0.21875 inch (5.55625 millimeters) diameter.
1) If any ball bearings of this size are found in the following areas, replace the stabilizer
jackscrew actuator: (Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Removal,
TASK 27-41-81-000-801) (Stabilizer Ball Nut and Jackscrew Gearbox Installation,
TASK 27-41-81-400-801).
a) The exterior of the ballnut.
