D. Trailing Edge Flap Bypass Valve Functional Test

(1) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap Asymmetry Skew System BITE Test, TASK 27-51-00-740-802.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS. THE FLAPS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do a test of the operational speed of the trailing edge flaps:
(a) Move the flap control lever to the UP position and wait for the flaps to reach the UP position.

(b) Measure the time it takes for the trailing edge flaps to extend from the UP position to the 1-
unit position:
1) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position to extend the flaps.
2) Make sure the time it takes for the flaps to extend to the 1-unit position is 11 to 14
seconds.
NOTE: If you will use the system B EMDP only, the extension time will be 34 to 39
seconds.
(c) Measure the time it takes for the trailing edge flaps to retract from the 1-unit position to the
UP position:
1) Move the flap control lever to the UP position to retract the flaps.
2) Make sure the time it takes for the flaps to retract to the UP position is 11 to 14 seconds.
NOTE: If you will use the system B EMDP only, the retraction time will be 34 to 39
seconds.

(3) Do a test of the operation of the bypass valve while the trailing edge flaps are moving:
NOTE: It is necessary to do the following two steps within approximately 10 seconds. The flaps
must still be extending when you do the second step.
(a) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position.
(b) While the trailing edge flaps are extending, move the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch to
the ARM position.
(c) Make sure the flaps stop extending when you move the ARM switch.

(4) Move the flap control lever to the UP position.
(a) Make sure the flaps do not move.

(5) Put the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch in the OFF position.
(a) Make sure the flaps retract to the retracted position.
E. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) If the downlock pins are not installed in the nose and main landing gear, do this task: Landing
Gear Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.
