hydraulic power if they are not in the retracted position.

J. Trailing Edge Flap Operation With Alternate Control
NOTE: Make sure you do the Disable the Leading Edge Slats part of this task before you operate
the trailing edge flaps.

WARNING: MOVE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT AWAY FROM THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS.
THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AND CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.
(1) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch on the P5 panel to arm the alternate control system.

CAUTION: WAIT A MINIMUM OF 15 SECONDS AFTER THE FLAPS STOP BEFORE YOU USE THE
ALTERNATE SYSTEM TO MOVE THE FLAPS AGAIN. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE FLAP ALTERNATE MOTOR.
(2) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS control switch to DOWN to extend the trailing edge flaps as it is
necessary.

(3) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS control switch to the OFF position.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE POSITION OF THE FLAPS AGREES WITH THE POSITION OF THE
FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER, THE FLAPS AND
SLATS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY TO THE POSITION OF THE FLAP CONTROL
LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) To retract the trailing edge flaps, move the ALTERNATE FLAPS control switch to UP until the
flaps are in the same position as the flap control lever.

(5) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS control switch to the OFF position.

(6) Move the ALTERNATE FLAPS ARM switch to the OFF position to disarm the alternate control
system.

(7) Remove the lock, SPL-1675 from the standby hydraulic module (Figure 205):
(a) Remove the lockpin.
(b) Remove the lock, SPL-1675 from the standby hydraulic module.
(c) Make sure the override lever at the leading edge standby drive shutoff valve is in position
1.
(d) Before you connect the electrical connector, examine the connector for corrosion.
WARNING: DO THE STEPS BELOW IF THE AIRPLANE OPERATES AT AIRPORTS WHERE
DEICING FLUID THAT CONTAIN POTASSIUM FORMATE IS USED. ALSO DO THE
STEPS FOR ALL AIRPLANES THAT YOU FOUND CORROSION IN THE
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS IN THE MAIN WHEEL WELL. THE ELECTRICAL
CONNECTOR IS PART OF A SYSTEM THAT IS NECESSARY FOR SAFE FLIGHT.
(e) If there was corrosion, refer to (SWPM 20-60-03) to correct the problem.
(f) Apply the D5026NS or ZC-026 compound, G50171 to the connector (SWPM 20-60-03).
(g) Connect the electrical connector to the leading edge standby drive shutoff valve.
K. Trailing Edge Flap Manual Operation

NOTE: Make sure you do the Disable the Leading Edge Slats part of this task before you operate
the trailing edge flaps.

(1) Install DO-NOT-OPERATE tags on the flap control lever, the ALTERNATE FLAPS switches and
the hydraulic control switches.

(a) Remove the bolts [3] and washers [2] that attach the cover [4] to the flap power drive unit
