5. Trailing Edge Flap System Test
(Figure 501)
A. General
(1) This task does a functional test of the trailing edge flap system. This task includes these parts:
(a) A test of the FSEU display and a check of existing faults
(b) A test of the asymmetry and skew systems
(c) A test of the load relief system
(d) A test of the primary operation
(e) A test of the power supply for the ALTERNATE FLAPS switches and the bypass valve
(f) A test of the power supply for the flap electric motor
(g) A test of the UP limit switch
(h) A test of the DOWN limit switch
(i) A test of the flap priority valve
(j) A test of the force required to move the flap control lever.

(2) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap Asymmetry Skew System BITE Test, TASK 27-51-00-740-802.
SUBTASK 27-51-00-860-028
WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES, THE
THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE COMPONENTS CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Use a hydraulic cart, or the EDP to supply system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic
System A or B Pressurization, TASK 29-11-00-860-801.
NOTE: The EMDP will not supply sufficient hydraulic power for this test.

(4) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap Load Relief System BITE Test, TASK 27-51-00-740-803.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS. THE FLAPS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Do a test of the primary operation of the trailing edge flaps:
(a) Move the flap control lever to the UP position and wait for the flaps to reach the UP position.
(b) Push the ON/OFF button on the front panel of the FSEU to turn on the display.
NOTE: The display will show EXISTING FAULTS?
(c) Do a check of the flap lever sensor, position sensors and skew sensor inputs to the FSEU:
1) Select OTHER FUNCTNS? from the MAIN MENU on the FSEU.
2) Select I/O MONITOR? from the OTHER FUNCTNS? menu.
3) Select SYNCHRO INPUTS? from the I/O MONITOR? menu.
4) Make sure the inputs for the sensors are in the limits shown in (Table 502) for the UP
position.
NOTE: Push the arrow keys to step through the sensor values.
