5) Install lockwire between the bolts that attach the cartridge [125].
(b) If it is necessary, adjust the cartridge [116] or cartridge [125] on the outboard carriage [13]:
1) Adjust the outboard cartridge [116]:
a) Remove the bolts [113], washers [122] and the rub block [121] from the retainer
[114].
b) Loosen the nut [118] on the roller [117].
c) Turn the eccentric bushing [115] until the index marks [120] are in the correct
position.
d) Tighten the nut [118] on the roller [117] to 160-975 pound-inches (18.1-110.1 newtonmeters).
e) Install the pin [119] in the nut [118].
f) Put the rub block [121] in its position on the retainer [114] and install the bolts [113]
and washers [122].
2) Adjust the inboard cartridge [125]:
a) Loosen the nut [127] on the roller [123].
b) Turn the eccentric bushing [115] until the index marks [120] are in the correct
position.
c) Tighten the nut [127] on the roller [123] to 160-975 pound-inches (18.1-110.1 newtonmeters).
d) Install the pin [126] in the nut [127].
e) Install lockwire between the bolts that attach the cartridge [125].

(2) If undersize seals were installed on the inboard end of the flap assembly [1] that was removed,
make sure the new flap assembly [1] has undersize seals also.

(3) If you will install a different flap, install the shim and bullnose seal you removed from the original
flap.

(4) Make sure the stop fittings are not installed on the flap tracks.

(5) If it is not installed, install the sling, SPL-1729 on the inboard flap assembly [1] (Figure 402):
(a) Remove the bolts [85] at the inboard and outboard ends of the front spar on the inboard flap
assembly [1].
(b) Install the sling fittings [81] in the location of the bolts [85].
(c) Remove the bolts [86] at the rear spar at the aft end of the inboard flap assembly [1].
(d) Install the sling fitting [84] in the location of the bolts [86].
(e) Connect the sling, SPL-1729 [82] to the sling fittings [81] and sling fitting [84].

(6) If it is installed, make sure the aft flap [2] is restrained in the retracted position on the inboard
flap assembly [1]:

CAUTION: DO NOT USE A RIG PIN IN THE CRANKSHAFT TO HOLD THE AFT FLAP IN THE
RETRACTED POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CRANKSHAFT OR
THE FITTING ON THE MAIN FLAP.
(a) Install the restraint strap (part of the sling, SPL-1729) to hold the aft flap [2] in the retracted
position.
H. Inboard Trailing Edge Flap Installation
SUBTASK 27-51-11-420-001
(1) Install the inboard flap assembly [1] (Figure 401):
CAUTION: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU LIFT THE INBOARD FLAP FROM THE GROUND.
YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE FLAP.
(a) Use the sling, SPL-1729 and 30 foot height (2000 lbs capacity) lift crane, STD-1095 to move
the inboard flap assembly [1] up into its position aft of the flap track [14] and flap track [39].
(b) Align the forward rollers [12] for the outboard carriage [13] with the flap track [14].
(c) Move the inboard flap track [39] to align with the forward rollers [38] for the inboard
carriage [52].
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE SLING TO MOVE THE INBOARD FLAP ON THE FLAP TRACK
AFTER THE AFT ROLLERS ENGAGE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP.
(d) Move the inboard flap assembly [1] up and forward on the flap tracks until the carriages
align with the gimbal [16] and gimbal [40].
(e) Connect the outboard carriage [13] to the gimbal [16]:
1) Remove the support from the ballscrew [17] and move the gimbal [16] to its position in
the carriage [13].

(f) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside of the carriage bushing assembly [15] and
carriage bushing assembly [26].
1) Install the carriage bushing assembly [15] and carriage bushing assembly [26] to
attach the gimbal [16] to the carriage [13].
2) Install the bolts [9], washers [10] and nuts [11] that attach the carriage bushing
assembly [15] and carriage bushing assembly [26] to the outboard carriage [13].
GUN ALL
(g) Tighten the nuts [11] to 65-75 pound-inches (7.4-8.4 newton-meters) more than the run-on
torque.
(h) Connect the inboard carriage [52] to the gimbal [40]:
1) Remove the support from the ballscrew [42] and move the gimbal [40] to its position in
