INBOARD FLAP SUPPORT FAIRING - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
1. General
A. This procedure has a task to do the adjustment of the outboard flap support fairings for the inboard
flap.

2. Inboard Flap Support Fairing Adjustment
(Figure 501)
A. General
(1) This task is applicable to the flap support fairing at supports No. 3 and 6.

(2) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.
G. Inboard Flap Outboard Aft Fairing Adjustment
SUBTASK 27-51-18-220-001
(1) Measure the clearance between the top surface of the aft fairing assembly [3] and the inboard
flap [1].
NOTE: Measure the clearance at the aft edge of the inboard flap [1] on the inboard and
outboard sides of the aft fairing assembly [3].
(a) Make sure the clearance is in the limit of 0.2884 ±0.050 inch (7.325 ±1.27 millimeters).
NOTE: The aft seal [5] should be compressed 20 to 40 percent.
(b) Make sure the clearance is approximately the same on the inboard and outboard sides of
the aft fairing assembly [3].

(2) If the clearance is not in the limit, or if it is not the same on the inboard and outboard sides,
adjust the position of the aft fairing assembly [3]:
(a) Remove the bolts [6] and remove the tailcone assembly [4] from the aft fairing assembly [3].
(b) If the clearance is not the same on the inboard and outboard sides, adjust the length of the
adjust rod [11]:
1) Loosen the locknuts [10] on the adjust rod [11].
2) Adjust the length of the adjust rod [11] until the clearance is the same on the inboard
and outboard sides of the aft fairing assembly [3].
3) Tighten the locknuts [10] on the adjust rod [11].
4) Install lockwire on the locknuts [10].
(c) If the clearance is not in the limit, adjust the length of the drive rod [8]:
1) Loosen the locknuts [7] on the drive rod [8].
2) Adjust the length of the drive rod [8] until the clearance is in the limit.
3) Tighten the locknuts [7] on the drive rod [8].
4) Install lockwire on the locknuts [7].
(d) Make sure the clearance is in the limit and it is the same on the inboard and outboard sides
of the aft fairing assembly [3].

(3) Make sure the seals [18] on the sides of the aft fairing assembly [3] are compressed evenly
against the lower surface of the inboard flap [1].

(4) If the seals [18] are not compressed evenly against the lower surface of the inboard flap [1],
adjust the position of the seals [18]:
