the flap control valve [19]. If the flaps retracted too far, adjust the valve slide [29]
to be further in the flap control valve [19].
(c) Tighten the nut [30] and nut [32] on the adjustable sleeve [31].
NOTE: Make sure the distance between the center of the rod end [24] and the nut [32] is
less than 0.94 inch (23.9 millimeters). Make sure the distance between the nut [30]
and the hex on the adjustable sleeve [31] is less than 0.19 inch (4.8 millimeters).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE HYDRAULIC POWER IS REMOVED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE
ROD END FROM THE SUMMING LEVER. IF YOU DISCONNECT THE ROD END
WITH HYDRAULIC POWER ON YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP
CONTROL UNIT.
(d) If it is necessary, disconnect the rod end [24] from the summing lever [20]:
NOTE: It is necessary to disconnect the rod end [24] if you cannot adjust the valve slide
[29] enough to get the flaps in the correct position.
1) Remove the nut [23], washer [22] and bolt [21] that attach the rod end [24] to the
summing lever [20].

2) Change the position of the adjustable sleeve [31].
3) Install the bolt [21], washer [22] and nut [23] to attach the rod end [24] to the summing
lever [20].
(e) Tighten the nut [30] and nut [32].
WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES,
THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE COMPONENTS
CAN MOVE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN
CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(f) Supply system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.
(g) Use the primary system to fully extend and retract the trailing edge flaps a minimum of five
times. To extend and retract the flaps, do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Operation
With Primary Control, TASK 27-51-00-860-801.
(h) Remove system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power
Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.
(i) Make sure you can install the rig pin [27] in the flap control unit [4].
(j) Make sure the ballscrew nuts for transmission No. 4 and No. 5 are 1/2 turn ±10 degrees
(±0.25 inch) (±6.3 millimeters) from the upstop on the ballscrew yoke.

(18) Install lockwire on the nut [30], nut [32] and the adjustable sleeve [31].

(3) Install the lower pan [26] on the flap control unit [4]:
(a) Put the lower pan [26] in its location on the flap control unit [4].
(b) Apply compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the screws [25].
(c) Install the washers [32] and screws [25] to attach the lower pan [4].
