3) Tighten the nut [30] and nut [32] on the adjustable sleeve [31].
NOTE: Make sure the distance between the center of the rod end [24] and the nut [32]
is less than 0.94 inch (23.9 millimeters). Make sure the distance between the
nut [30] and the hex on the adjustable sleeve [31] is less than 0.19 inch (4.8
millimeters).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE HYDRAULIC POWER IS REMOVED BEFORE YOU
DISCONNECT THE ROD END FROM THE SUMMING LEVER. IF YOU
DISCONNECT THE ROD END WITH HYDRAULIC POWER ON YOU CAN
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP CONTROL UNIT.
4) If it is necessary, disconnect the rod end [24] from the summing lever [20]:
NOTE: It is necessary to disconnect the rod end [24] if you cannot align the valve slide
[29] and the index surface [28] while the adjustable sleeve [31] is in the limits.
a) Remove the nut [23], washer [22] and bolt [21] that attach the rod end [24] to the
summing lever [20].
b) Change the position of the adjustable sleeve [31].
c) Install the bolt [21], washer [22] and nut [23] to attach the rod end [24] to the
summing lever [20].
5) Tighten the nut [30] and nut [32].
NOTE: It is not necessary to install the lockwire on the nuts now. You will install
lockwire after the final adjustment is complete.

(10) Connect the torque tubes [18] to the flap power drive unit [17]:
(a) Remove the clamp set, SPL-1726 from the torque tubes [18].
(b) Make sure the ballscrew nuts for transmission No. 4 and No. 5 are 1/2 turn ±10 degrees
(±0.25 inch) (±6.3 millimeters) from the upstop on the ballscrew yoke.
(c) Apply grease, D00633 to the coupling sleeves [15].
(d) Put the splined couplings [16] in the coupling sleeves [15].
(e) Install the screws [14] to attach the torque tubes [18] to the power drive unit [17].
(f) Install lockwire on the screws [14].
SUBTASK 27-51-00-420-002
(11) For the flap position transmitters on the left and right wings, do this task: Flap Position

(13) Use the primary system to extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend the
flaps, do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Operation With Primary Control,
TASK 27-51-00-860-801.
SUBTASK 27-51-00-860-025
(14) Use the primary system to retract the trailing edge flaps to the UP position. To retract the flaps,
do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Operation With Primary Control,
TASK 27-51-00-860-801.
NOTE: Wait a minimum of 2 minutes before you remove the hydraulic power. The flaps can
move a small distance during this time.
SUBTASK 27-51-00-860-026
(15) Remove system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power Removal,

(16) Do these steps to do a check of the adjustment of the trailing edge flap control valve [19]:
(a) Make sure you can install the rig pin [27] in the flap control unit [4].
(b) Make sure the ballscrew nuts for transmission No. 4 and No. 5 are 1/2 turn ±10 degrees
(±0.25 inch) (±6.3 millimeters) from the upstop on the ballscrew yoke.
SUBTASK 27-51-00-820-008
(17) If you cannot install the rig pin [27], or if the ballscrew nuts are not in the correct position, then do
a final adjustment of the flap control valve [19]:
NOTE: It can be necessary to adjust the flap control valve [19] more than once to get it to the
correct position.
(a) Loosen the nut [30] and nut [32] on the adjustable sleeve [31].
CAUTION: ADJUST THE FLAP CONTROL VALVE A SMALL DISTANCE AT A TIME. IF YOU
ADJUST THE FLAP CONTROL VALVE TOO FAR, THE BALLSCREW NUTS CAN HIT
THE UPSTOPS. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b) Turn the adjustable sleeve [31] to change the position of the valve slide [29].
NOTE: If the flaps did not retract far enough, adjust the valve slide [29] to be further out of
