(3) If the mismatch at the inboard and outboard ends of the aft flap assembly [2] is not in the limit of
0.00 ±0.060 inches (1.524 mm), then adjust the length of the applicable rod [11] (Figure 401):
(a) Loosen the nuts [9] on the rod [11].
(b) If you cannot get access to the nuts [9], extend the aft flap assembly [2]:
1) Remove the rig pins from the bellcranks [12].
2) Extend the aft flap assembly [2], until you can get access to the nuts [9]. To extend the
flaps, do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Turn the applicable rod [11] until the mismatch is in the limit at the inboard and outboard
ends of the aft flap assembly [2].
NOTE: For each 1/4 turn of the rod [11], the trailing edge of the aft flap assembly [2] will
move approximately 0.04 inch (1.016 mm).
(d) Tighten the nuts [9] on the rod [11].
(e) Install lockwire on the nuts [9].
(f) If you extended the aft flap assembly [2] to get access to the nuts [9], then do these steps:
1) Retract the aft flap assembly [2] until you can install the rig pins in the bellcranks [12].
To retract the flap, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps,
TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
2) Install the rig pins in the bellcranks [12].

(g) Make sure the mismatch at the inboard and outboard ends of the aft flap assembly [2] is in
the limit.

(4) Support the aft flap assembly [2] to make sure the programming rollers [21] touch the bottom
surface of the programming tracks and the aft rollers for the four inner aft flap tracks touch the
top surface of the tracks.
NOTE: This is the position the rollers will be in with airloads applied to the flap.

(5) At the inboard and outboard ends of the aft flap assembly [2], measure the vertical alignment at
the trailing edge of the aft flap assembly [2] and the main flap [1] (Views B-B and C-C)
(Figure 402).
(a) If the vertical alignment of the trailing edge is not in the limit of 0.000 ±0.100 inch (2.54
mm), then adjust the rollers [21] for the inboard or outboard programming tracks.

(6) At the lower cove panels on the main flap [1], measure the mismatch between the aft flap
assembly [2] and the main flap [1] (View B)Figure 402.
(a) If the mismatch is not in the limit of 0.000 ±0.060 inch (1.524 mm), then adjust the rollers
[21] for the inboard and outboard programming tracks.

(7) If it is necessary, adjust the rollers [21] for the applicable inboard and outboard programming
tracks (Figure 401):
NOTE: If you cannot get the aft flap assembly [2] vertical alignment and the lower surface
mismatch in the limits, make sure the vertical alignment is in the limit.
(a) Remove the rig pins from the bellcranks [12].
(b) Extend the aft flap assembly [2], until you can get access to the rollers [21]. To extend the
flaps, do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
(c) Remove the nut [24], washer [25] and washer [15] from the roller [21].
(d) Disengage the locking washer [16] from the locking washer [17].
(e) Turn eccentric bushing [19], until the vertical alignment and the lower surface mismatch
are in the limits.
NOTE: If you turn the eccentric bushing [19] 90 degrees, it will move the trailing edge of
the aft flap assembly [2] approximately 0.050 inches (1.27 mm).
(f) Engage the locking washer [16] with locking washer [17].
(g) Install the washer [15], washer [25] and nut [14] on the roller [21].
(h) Tighten the nut [24] to 95-110 pound-inches (10.7-12.4 newton-meters).
(i) Retract the aft flap assembly [2] until you can install the rig pins in the bellcranks [12]. To
retract the flap, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.
(j) Install the rig pins in the bellcranks [12].
(k) Make sure the vertical alignment and the lower surface mismatch are in the limits.
