 S 432-019
 CAUTION:_______DO NOT CAUSE THE RING TO BE OUT OF ITS CORRECT SHAPE. IT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE RING AND RESULT IN LEAKS AT THE COUPLING.
 (5)  Put a second new retaining ring on the ferrule.
 S 432-020
 CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE TOOLS TO TIGHTEN THE FUEL LINE FITTINGS. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FITTING COMPONENTS. IT CAN ALSO LOOSEN THE ADJACENT FITTINGS.
 (6)  
Put the tube into the fitting.

 S 422-034

 (7)  
Tighten the coupling nut with your hands.

 (8)  
Put a lockwire through the coupling nut to the fitting on the adjacent structure.

 CAUTION: YOU CANNOT TIGHTEN THE FUEL LINE COUPLING AFTER THE INITIAL
_______ INSTALLATION. YOU MUST INSTALL NEW O-RINGS WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE FUEL LINE COUPLING AGAIN OR A FUEL LEAK CAN OCCUR.
 (9)  If you must tighten the fuel line coupling again, disconnect the fuel line coupling and install new O-rings.

 (1)  
Inspect the tube ferrule(s), coupling nut(s) and retaining ring(s) for damage.

 (a)  
If there is damage, make sure the damage or wear is within the permitted limit (AMM 28-22-07/601).

Do these steps to check the installation of the fuel couplings:

 (a)  
Make sure the O-rings are new and are not contaminated or damaged.

 (b)  
Make sure the O-rings are lubricated with petrolatum before the installation.

 (c)  
Make sure the retaining rings are new and are not deformed or bent.

 (d)  
Make sure all of the coupling components are installed and in the correct sequence.

 (e)  
Make sure the coupling is manually tightened.

 (f)  
Make sure the coupling is tightened as far as possible by hand.

 (g)  
Make sure the minimum and maximum dimensions are correct (Reference the flexible full coupling dimensions, Figure 202).

Procedure


 S 432-022
 (1)  
Put the coupling nut on the ferrule for tube A.

 (2)  
Put the coupling on the ferrule for tube B.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT CAUSE THE RING TO BE OUT OF ITS CORRECT SHAPE. YOU CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE RING AND RESULT IN LEAKS AT THE COUPLING.
 (3)  
Put a retaining ring on each ferrule to keep the nut and coupling on the tube ends.

 (4)  
Lubricate the new O-rings with petrolatum.

 (5)  
Put one O-ring on each ferrule.

 (6)  
Put together the two tube ends.

 (7)
Keep a distance of 0.15 (|0.05) inch between the two ferrules.

Put the retainer halves together.
