(a)
Lubricate the new O-ring for the adapter plate with the petrolatum.
(b)
Install the O-ring in the groove on the adapter plate.
(c)
Make sure the mating surface of the adapter plate is free from any petrolatum squeeze out.
(d)
Put the shaft through the spar opening and engage the splines of the shaft and the valve body. 1) FOR THE LEFT WING INSTALLATION (RESERVE TANK NO. 2);
Put the OPEN/CLOSED nomenclature below the valve centerline (View A).
2) FOR THE RIGHT WING INSTALLATION (RESERVE TANK NO. 3); Put the OPEN/CLOSED nomenclature inboard of the valve centerline (View B).
(e)
Install the mounting bolts and washers (4 locations) that attach the adapter plate to the spar.
(f)
Install the lockwire on the mounting bolts.

AIRPLANES WITHOUT PRIMER BETWEEN THE REAR SPAR AND THE ADAPTER PLATE; Do these steps:
(a)
Apply a fillet seal of BMS5-95 sealant around the periphery of the adapter plate (AMM 28-11-00/801).
(b)
Apply these protective finishes to any bare areas of the rear spar not covered with the sealant: 1) Alodine 600 (AMM 51-21-04/701) 2) BMS 10-20 Type II primer (AMM 28-11-00/801).

Close and go out of the fuel tank (AMM 28-11-00/201).
(b)
Install the applicable main tank doors (AMM 28-11-02/401).

Reserve Tank Valve Adapter Operational Tests

Do this task: Reserve Tank Transfer Valves Ground Test
(AMM 28-16-01/501).

Do these steps to make sure the reserve tank transfer valves are installed correctly:
(a)
Make sure the RESERVE 2&3 TRANSFER switch is closed.
NOTE: The switch is located on the defuel module of the P461
____ maintenance overhead panel.
WARNING: USE THE TAIL SUPPORT EQUIPMENT IF YOU CANNOT KEEP THE
_______ CENTER OF GRAVITY IN THE LIMITS GIVEN BY THE WEIGHT AND BALANCE MANUAL. IF THE AIRPLANE CENTER OF GRAVITY IS NOT IN THESE LIMITS, THE AFT END OF THE AIRPLANE CAN ROTATE AND HIT THE GROUND.
(b) Install the tail support equipment if you can not keep the airplane center of gravity in the limits given by the weight and balance manual (AMM 07-11-08/201).

Refuel the applicable reserve tank and outboard main tank (AMM 12-11-01/301).
(d)
Do a check for external fuel leaks at the reserve tank transfer valve.
(e)
Monitor the fuel quantity for the reserve and inboard main tank.
(f)
Make sure the fuel quantity in the reserve tank does not decrease, with a subsequent increase in the inboard main tank.

Put the Airplane Back to the Usual Condition

WARNING: DO THE PROCEDURE IN AMM 27-51-00/201 TO REMOVE THE LOCKS AND
_______ ACTIVATE THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS MOVE QUICKLY AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Activate the outboard trailing edge flaps (AMM 27-51-00/201).
