Procedure


 S 114-029
 (1)  
Prepare these surfaces for an electrical surface bond
 (SWPM 20-20-00):


 (a)  
Mating surface of the index plate and valve actuator.

 (b)  
Mating surfaces of the bonding jumper and bonding jumper tab.

 (c)  
AIRPLANES WITHOUT PRIMER BETWEEN THE REAR SPAR AND THE ADAPTER PLATE; Mating surface of the rear spar and adapter plate.


 NOTE: If the rear spar has a protective finish (primer
____ coating) under the adapter plate, it is not necessary to do this step.

 (2)  
Do these steps to install the adapter plate:

 (a)  
Lubricate the new O-ring for the adapter plate with the petrolatum.

 (b)  
Install the O-ring in the groove on the adapter plate.

 (c)  
Make sure the mating surface of the adapter plate is free from any petrolatum squeeze out.

 (d)  
Put the shaft through the spar opening and engage the splines of the shaft and the valve body.

 (e)  
Align the shaft to go through the shaft support clamp.

 (f)  
Engage the splines of the shaft and the valve body.


 1)  FOR THE LEFT WING INSTALLATION; Put the OPEN/CLOSED nomenclature inboard of the valve centerline.
 2)  FOR THE RIGHT WING INSTALLATION; Put the OPEN/CLOSED nomenclature inboard of the valve centerline.
 (g)  Install the bolts and the washers (4 locations) that attach the adapter to the spar. 1) Tighten the bolts. 2) Attach lockwire to the bolts.

Do this task to align the adapter shaft: Adapter Shaft Alignment (AMM 28-00-01/201).

 (4)  
Install the valve actuator (AMM 28-16-04/401).


 NOTE: Make sure the electrical resistance between the actuator and
____ the rear spar is not more than 0.008 ohms (SWPM 20-20-00).

 (5)  
AIRPLANES WITHOUT PRIMER BETWEEN THE REAR SPAR AND THE ADAPTER PLATE; Do these steps:

 (a)  
Apply a fillet seal of BMS5-95 sealant around the periphery of the adapter plate (AMM 28-11-00/801).

 (b)  
Apply these protective finishes to any bare areas of the rear spar not covered with the sealant: 1) Alodine 600 (AMM 51-21-04/701) 2) BMS 10-20 Type II primer (AMM 28-11-00/801).

 (6)  
Do these steps to close the fuel tank:

 (a)
Close and go out of the fuel tank (AMM 28-11-00/201).
