A. This procedure contains instructions for the adapter shaft alignment for several fuel system valves.

This task has two ways to align the adapter shaft:
(a)
Adapter shaft alignment with the alignment tool B28009-1.
NOTE: Use this procedure if the adapter plates are installed
____ as shown in Fig 201.
(b) Adapter shaft alignment manual method.
NOTE: This procedure can be used for any adapter plate
____
configuration.

Torque meter - 0-15 inch-pounds, with a resolution of +/- 1 inch-pound (optional)

Adapter Shaft Alignment With Alignment Tool B28009-1 (Fig. 201)

Do these steps to install the alignment tool in the adapter plate:
(a)
Make sure that the actuator is in the closed position.
(b)
Remove the applicable valve actuator.
(c)
Remove the top two index screws from the index plate.
(d)
Loosen the bottom index screw, but do not remove it.
(e)
Install the alignment tool (Fig. 201):
(f)
Put the alignment tool in its position with the two guide pins in the holes left by the two index screws that you removed (the scale should be on the top of the tool).
(g)
Make sure the spline on the tool engages with the spline on the shaft.
