F. Procedure

(1) Remove the seal from the door fully.
NOTE: If the seal cannot be removed from the cast aluminum access
____ panel the access panel does not have a molded rubber seal that you can remove and replace. You must replace the full access panel. Only new cast aluminum access panels have molded rubber seals you can remove and replace.

CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FINISH WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SEALANT.

TOO MUCH FORCE CAN REMOVE THE PAINT OR PRIMER.
(2)
Remove the remaining sealant from the seal groove with the sealant removal tool.

Clean the seal carefully before you install it.
(a)
Rub the seal with the sandpaper to remove the parting agent.
NOTE: Rub carefully to make sure that the seal bonds to the

groove.
(b)
Remove the unwanted material with the aliphatic naphtha.
(c)
Clean the seal with the methyl ethyl ketone, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, or ethyl alcohol and dry it.

(4) Prepare the seal groove.
WARNING: DO NOT GET SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH, OR YOUR EYES, OR ON
_______ YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
(a)
Clean the seal groove with a clean wiper moistened with Series 93 solvent (AMM 20-30-93/201).
(b)
Dry the seal groove with the air gun.
(c)
Rub the groove with a wiper lightly moistened with Series 93 solvent (AMM 20-30-93/201).
(d)
Apply the BMS 5-26 Type II Class A (or Proseal 860, B 1/6) sealant to the full width of the seal groove.

(5) Install the seal and make sure it is tightly against the seal groove in all positions.

7. Approved Repair of the Secondary Fuel Barrier Sealant_____________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
If there is leakage in the secondary fuel barrier, the leakage must be repaired before the airplane is released for flight.
(2)
Secondary fuel barrier sealant is a polyurethane (Type II) material applied to the upper exterior surface of center auxiliary fuel tank.
