It is important that all of the the crossfeed valves are closed when the components in the fuel strainer housing are removed. If a crossfeed valve is open, fuel can go into the fuel-feed manifold from a main tank suction-feed inlet. When the components in the fuel strainer housing are removed, a fuel spill can occur when fuel from the main tank drains out through the fuel strainer housing.

_______ WHEN THE COMPONENTS IN THE FUEL STRAINER HOUSING ARE REMOVED. IF A CROSSFEED VALVE IS OPEN, A FUEL SPILL CAN OCCUR WHEN FUEL FROM A MAIN TANK FLOWS INTO THE FUEL-FEED MANIFOLD AND DRAINS OUT OF THE FUEL STRAINER HOUSING. A FUEL SPILL CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.

Make sure all of the control switches for the fuel crossfeed valves (fuel management control module, P5 panel) are in the off position (the flowbar on the switch goes out).

Go into the applicable wheel well for the wing landing gear to get to the cap for the fuel strainer housing.
