CENTER WING TANK ACCESS DOOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This section gives instructions for the removal and installation for the access door for the center wing tank.
B. An access door for the center wing tank is installed on each side of the front spar in the center wing box.
C. To get access to the access door for the center wing tank you must remove the fillet fairing.
(1)
The fillet fairing is immediately forward of the access door for the jack pad.
D.
Make sure that you remove the electrical power from the airplane before you remove the access door.

Make sure you do not put back the electrical power until the tank is closed and safe.

Defuel the center wing tank (AMM 28-26-00/201).

(2)
Remove the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Remove the fillet fairing immediately forward of the access door for the jack pad on the left side of the airplane (AMM 53-51-01/401).
(4)
Install the work platform (Fig. 401).

(5) Remove the access door bolts and washer(s) (32 locations) (Fig. 402).
NOTE: Carefully remove the last bolt to make sure the metal
____ seal ring will not fall to the bottom of the tank. If the seal ring becomes loose, hold the door by the handle to remove the seal from the tank.

CAUTION: DO NOT PUT A OBJECT BETWEEN THE WING SKIN AND THE ACCESS DOOR
_______ TO REMOVE THE DOOR. IF YOU CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WING SKIN OR THE ACCESS DOOR SEALS, A FUEL LEAK CAN OCCUR.
(6) Hold the door at the handle and turn it until the door will move through the opening.
NOTE: If the door cannot be easily removed, hit the door lightly
____ around the edge with a rubber mallet.

Remove the door and the metal seal ring.

Install a rubber cover around the tank access opening.
