_______ YOU CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE RETAINING RING WHICH CAN CAUSE FUEL LEAKS AT THE COUPLING.
 (3)  
Do these steps to install the shrouded coupling components to the fuel line (bulkhead and front spar coupling locations):

 (a)  
Lubricate the four new O-rings with petrolatum.

 (b)  
Put these coupling components, in this sequence, on the bulkhead body or front spar fitting: 1) coupling nut 2) retaining ring 3) O-ring 4) spacer 5) O-ring.

 (c)  
Put these components, in this sequence, on the fuel tube ferrule: 1) retaining ring 2) O-ring 3) spacer 4) O-ring.

 (d)  
Align the bulkhead or front spar fitting and the fuel tube end.

 (e)  
Keep a distance of 0.15 (|0.05) inch between the tube ends.

 (f)  
Put the retainer halves together over the gap in the two tubes.

 (g)  
Inspect the coupling installation to make sure the components are in the correct sequence.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE TOOLS TO TIGHTEN THE FUEL LINE FITTINGS. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FITTING COMPONENTS OR LOOSEN THE ADJACENT FITTINGS.
 (4)  
Do these steps to tighten the shrouded fuel coupling:

 (a)  
Slide the O-rings, spacer and retaining ring to the seal position against the retainer.

 (b)  
Slide the coupling body over the coupling components.

 (c)  
Manually tighten the coupling body to the coupling nut.

 (d)  
Tighten the coupling as far as possible by hand.

 (5)  
Do these steps to inspect the coupling installation.

 (a)  
Measure the distance between the end of the coupling nut and the end of the coupling body (Fig. 203).

 (b)  
Make sure the distance is between 2.000 and 2.185 inches.

 (6)  S 432-086AIRPLANES WITH A DRAIN LINE ON THE SHROUDED COUPLING; Do these steps to install the drain line to the shrouded fuel coupling. (a) Lubricate a new O-ring with petrolatum. (b) Connect the O-ring, union and drain line to the coupling body.
 (7)  S 432-082Put a lockwire through the coupling nut to the coupling body.

 CAUTION: YOU CANNOT TIGHTEN THE FUEL LINE COUPLING AFTER THE INITIAL
_______ INSTALLATION. YOU MUST INSTALL NEW O-RINGS WHEN YOU TIGHTEN THE FUEL LINE COUPLING AGAIN OR A FUEL LEAK CAN OCCUR.
 (8)  If you must tighten the fuel line coupling again, disconnect the fuel line coupling and install new O-rings.
