C. Procedure

(1) Defuel the applicable fuel tank (AMM 28-26-00/201).
NOTE: It is usually necessary to replace the O-ring in the
____ primary poppet of the sump drain valve for leakage. You can do this with fuel in the fuel tanks.

Purge and prepare to go into the surge tank (AMM 28-11-00/201).

Remove the other tank access doors, if it is necessary, to get the access to the fuel sump drain valve (AMM 28-11-02/401).

If you replace the fuel sump drain valve in the center wing tank, remove the access door 131AZ for the spanwise beam No. 3 (AMM 28-11-09/401).

On the fuel sump drain valve with the drain line, disconnect the drain line coupling from the fitting on the valve housing.

On the fuel sump drain valve with the drain line, remove the fitting from the valve housing.

Remove the sealant from the valve base and the nuts
(AMM 28-11-00/801).

CAUTION:_______DO NOT REMOVE THE BOLTS FROM THE WING LOWER PANEL. YOU CAN CAUSE A FUEL LEAK AND EXTRA MAINTENANCE IF YOU REMOVE THE BOLTS.

Remove the nuts and the washers (2 locations) that attach the fuel sump drain valve to the mounting bolts.

Remove the fuel sump drain valve.
NOTE: The valves in the surge tanks are installed on the
____ spacers. If you remove the spacer, keep it for the installation.
