 FUEL SUMP DRAIN VALVE SECONDARY POPPET - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This section supplies instructions for the removal and installation of the secondary poppet in the sump drain valve.
 B.  The access to the secondary poppet installed in the main, the reserve, or the surge tank is through its applicable fuel tank access door. The access to the secondary poppet installed in the center wing tank is through the access door for the center wing tank and the spanwise beam access doors.

 C. Procedure
 S 014-002
 (1)  
Remove the primary poppet from the drain valve in the fuel sump (AMM 28-11-04/401).

 S 654-003

 (2)  
Defuel the applicable fuel tank, if it is necessary
 (AMM 28-26-00/201).

 

 S 864-004
 WARNING:_______OBEY ALL THE FUEL TANK PURGING AND ENTRY PRECAUTIONS. YOU CAN CAUSE AN INJURY TO A PERSON AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.
 (3)  
Remove the fuel from the surge tank and prepare it for an entry (AMM 28-11-00/201).

 S 014-005

 (4)  
If it is necessary, remove the other access doors to get access to the sump drain valve (AMM 28-11-02/401).

 NOTE: Refer to the table that follows for the access door numbers.

If you must remove the secondary poppet from the valve in the center wing tank, remove the 131AZ access door in the No. 3 spanwise beam (AMM 28-11-09/401).

For the drain valves with the drain line provisions, disconnect the drain line coupling from the fitting on the valve housing.

 (8)  
On the drain valves with the drain line provisions, remove the fitting from the valve housing.
