Make sure the metal seal ring installed in the access door is not damaged.

If the seals on the seal ring are damaged, replace the seal ring.

Clean the surfaces that seal, the seal ring, and the fuel tank opening.

Put the metal seal ring on the access door.

Put the access door and the metal seal ring into the opening of the fuel tank.

Turn the door into its correct position.

Install the bolts, washers and fiber washers (32 locations) (Fig. 402).

Tighten the bolts to a torque of 68 to 83 inch pounds.
NOTE:____Do not over-torque the bolts. You can crush the fiber washers.

RESERVE AND MAIN TANK ACCESS DOOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains instructions for the removal and installation of the access door for the reserve and main tanks.
B. The access doors are found on the bottom of the wing, between the front and rear spars. The door installation is the same for all locations. Some of the doors contain a fuel measuring stick that you must remove before the door removal.
