_______ WHEN THE FUEL STRAINER HOUSING IS DISCONNECTED. IF A CROSSFEED VALVE IS OPEN, A FUEL SPILL CAN OCCUR WHEN FUEL FROM A MAIN TANK FLOWS INTO THE FUEL-FEED MANIFOLD AND DRAINS OUT OF THE SCAVENGE SYSTEM TUBING. A FUEL SPILL CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE.

Make sure all of the control switches for the fuel crossfeed valves (fuel management control module, P5 panel) are in the off position (the flowbar on the switch goes out).

Defuel the center wing tank (AMM 28-26-00/201).

Remove all the fuel in the center wing tank and prepare the center wing tank for an entry (AMM 28-11-00/201).

Remove the Fuel Strainer Housing

Go into the applicable wheel well for the wing landing gear to get to the cap for the fuel strainer housing.

Remove the lockwire between the bolt on the rear spar and the nut on the fuel strainer housing.

Remove the jamnut and the washer from the fuel strainer housing.

(8) Put the fuel container in position to collect the fuel that remains in the fuel-feed manifold.
NOTE: The quantity of fuel that can drain from the fuel-feed
____ manifold when the fuel strainer housing is removed is 20 gallons (76 liters).
