SCAVENGE SYSTEM FUEL STRAINER - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
_____________________________________________________
1. General_______
A. This procedure has one task:
(1)
The removal and cleaning of the fuel strainer for the hydromechanical scavenge system in the center wing tank.
B.
A fuel strainer is found in each of the fuel strainer housing assemblies. The fuel strainer housing assemblies are attached to the rear spar on the center wing tank (Ref LBL/RBL 112.60).
C.
To get to the fuel strainers you must go in the wheel well for the wing landing gear.
D.
The fuel scavenge system will not operate (the system will be deactivated) if the left and the right side fuel strainers are removed from the fuel strainer housing assemblies. The poppet valves in the fuel strainer housing assemblies will stop the flow of fuel to the jet pumps.
E.
An external leak check of the fuel strainer housing is done to make sure the fuel stainer and cap are installed correctly. Fuel-feed manifold pressure is supplied by the boost pumps to pressurize the fuel strainer housing. No leaks are permitted.
