CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE PART NUMBER OF THE POPPET AND FLOAT ASSEMBLY IS
_______ CORRECT BEFORE THE REPLACEMENT. FLOAT ASSEMBLY COMPONENTS MUST ALIGN BY THE PART NUMBER TO MAKE SURE IT OPERATES CORRECTLY.
(1)
Examine the float assembly (1) for damage and worn areas and replace it if it is necessary.

Put the float assembly (1) and teflon washers (2) in their positions to make sure the holes in the float arm bracket align with the holes in the valve flange bracket.
(3)
Move the hinge pin (3) through the holes that align.
(4)
Put a washer (4) on each end of the hinge pin (3).
(5)
Install lockwire on the hinge pin (3).

(6) S 714-028Lift the float assembly (1) lightly to make sure the float arm moves freely.
(7) S 224-029Measure the distance between the top seal surface on the valve flange and the top point on the flapper.
NOTE:____ This dimension must be 0.84 to 1.00 inch.
(a) If the clearance is too much or not in the tolerance, make sure you installed the correct float assembly (1).
(8) S 414-030Install the spanwise beam access doors, if removed (Ref 28-11-09/401).
(9) S 864-031Go out of and close the fuel tank (Ref 28-11-00/201).
