2. Clean the Fan Blade
___________________
A. Equipment
(1) Protective mat (two are necessary) - Rubber Manufacturer's
Association, Grade SC43, neoprene sponge, 1 inch thick,
approximately 3 x 4 feet with warning streamers attached.

(a) Install a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

Put the protective mats on the lower half of the interior surface of the inlet cowl.

Open the left (right) fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

(4) Open the left (right) thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).

WARNING:_______USE THE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU TOUCH THE SOLVENT. SKIN IRRITATION CAN OCCUR IF YOU TOUCH THE SOLVENT BEFORE IT IS MIXED.
THE CLEANER IS FLAMMABLE. OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
(5) Prepare the solution to clean fan blades as follows:
(a) Mix a solution of 20 percent gas path cleaner and 80 percent
water.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT LET THE SOLUTION SPRAY INTO THE GAS PATH. HOT CORROSION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(6) Use a spray gun and apply the solution to the two sides of the blades at the 6 o'clock position from the inlet and fan exit.
NOTE: This will decrease the amount of solution that touches the
____ blade dovetails. The solution will remove the lubricant. If you wipe the blades, do it in the down direction away from the rotor.

(7) Remove the small deposits from the blades with a soft cloth which is moist with the solution.
(a) Flush the blades with water.

Remove the hard-to-remove particles from the blades with a Scotch-Brite pad which is moist with the solution.
(a) Flush the blades with water.
(9)
Remove the protective mat from the engine inlet.
