 (b)  
Route the flexible borescope between the trailing edge (TE of the HPT blades and the leading edge (LE) of the 1st-Stage NGV's.

 (c)  
Carefully examine all of the 1st-Stage NGV's for burns, cracks and missing material. 1) Use the limits from this procedure, HPT Blades and Shrouds


 and 1st-Stage NGV's Inspection. 2) If no damage is found, replace all of the fuel nozzles and continue the engine in service (AMM 73-11-04/401). 3) If the damage is more than the limits, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401). 4) If the defect is serviceable, do the inspection of the 2nd-Stage NGV's that follows.

 (4)  Examine the 2nd-Stage LPT NGVs.
 (a)  
Install a flexible borescope in the port S20.

 (b)  
Route the flexible borescope between the LE of the 2nd-stage LPT blades and the TE of the 2nd-Stage LPT NGVs.


 NOTE: You must do this procedure twice to examine all of the
____ 2nd-Stage LPT NGV'v. Route the flexible borescope in both directions (clockwise and counterclockwise) at the S20 port.
 (c)  Carefully examine all of the 2nd-Stage LPT NGVs for burns, cracks and missing material. 1) Use the limits from this procedure, LPT Nozzle Guide Vanes
 (2nd thru 4th Stage) Inspection. 2) If no damage is found, replace all of the fuel nozzles and continue the engine in service (AMM 73-11-04/401). 3) If the damage is more than the limits, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401).

 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT BORESCOPE PLUG IN THE CORRECT
_______ LOCATION. THE BORESCOPE PLUG TO THE LPT STAGE 1 AND COMBUSTION CASE HAVE THE SAME THREAD SIZE. THE STEM OF THE BORESCOPE PLUG TO THE LPT STAGE 1 NOZZLE WILL BE BURNED AWAY IF IT IS INSTALLED IN THE BORESCOPE PORT TO THE COMBUSTION CASE.
 (5)  Do these steps to install the borescope plugs (Fig. 606A):
 (a)  
Apply a light layer of graphite grease (CP2101) on the borescope plug threads and the mating surfaces.

 (b)  
Install in the borescope ports.

 (c)  
Tighten the plugs to 57-63 pound-inches
 (6.4-7.1 Newton meters).


 (d)  
Put a lockwire on the plug.
