1) The nozzle tips must be in the internal diameter of the primary swirler (Fig. 606D).
(c)
Look at the opening between the forward edge of the deflector plate and spectacle plate. 1) There must be a satisfactory opening of 0.08 inch
(2.03 mm). 2) A maximum opening of 0.30 inch (7.63 mm) is permitted (Fig. 606B).
3) If the opening is larger than 0.30 inch (7.63 mm), examine the area around the nozzle and the outer side of the combustion chamber.
(d)
If you do not find damage, then do an inspection through the other borescope ports.
(e)
If 1 or more of the above deflector plates are out of limits, or if you are not sure the tip is in the correct position, do these steps: 1) Identify the fuel nozzle adjacent to the damaged area. 2) Remove the borescope. 3) Remove the adjacent fuel nozzle (AMM 73-11-04/401). 4) Examine the damaged fuel nozzle and primary swirler. 5) If the fuel nozzle is not in the internal diameter of the
primary swirler, replace the engine (AMM 71-00-02/401). 6) If the fuel nozzle is in the internal diameter and does not touch the sides, continue to use the engine. 7) Install the fuel nozzles (AMM 73-11-04/401).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT BORESCOPE PLUG IN THE CORRECT
_______ LOCATION. THE BORESCOPE PLUG TO THE LPT STAGE 1 AND COMBUSTION CASE HAVE THE SAME THREAD SIZE. THE STEM OF THE BORESCOPE PLUG TO THE LPT STAGE 1 NOZZLE WILL BE BURNED AWAY IF IT IS INSTALLED IN THE BORESCOPE PORT TO THE COMBUSTION CASE.
(5) It is recommended (not mandatory) to do a one time borescope inspection of the HPT nozzle leading edges 400-800 cycles after the birdstrike event:
(a) If no leading-edge distress is seen, go back to the usual borescope inspection interval.

(b) If you can see missing material/burn through on the HPT nozzle leading-edge wall, contact CFMI (See Task S216- 023-C00, look for leading-edge missing material/burn through).

(6) Install the borescope plugs (Fig. 606C):
(a)
Apply graphite grease (CP2101) to the threads and to the mating surfaces.
(b)
Install the plugs in the borescope ports.
(c)
Tighten the plugs to 57-63 pound-inches (6.3-7.0 N.m).
(d)
Put a lockwire on the plug.

(7) Install the right and left side spark igniters (AMM 74-21-02/401).
