H. Replacement of All the Fan Blades on the Engine.
NOTE: This procedure is used to get access to other areas of the fan

module. Use this procedure only when you remove and install the
same fan blade set.

(1) Do the procedure to prepare for the replacement of the fan blades.

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES WHEN YOU HANDLE THE FAN BLADES. THE
FAN BLADES CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOUR HANDS.
CAUTION: IF YOU ARE TO INSTALL THE FAN ROTOR BLADES AGAIN, YOU MUST MAKE
_______ A RECORD OF THEIR INITIAL POSITIONS. YOU CAN ONLY USE APPROVED MARKING MATERIALS (AMM 70-10-03/201).
(2) Remove the fan blades.
(a)
Remove the front and rear spinner cones (AMM 72-31-01/401).
(b)
Give a number to each fan blade and the fan disk slot.
(c)
Move the spacer forward until you can release the retainer.
NOTE: If it is necessary, use the puller adapter, slide

hammer, and rod.
(d)
Lift the blade retainer out of the fan disk.
(e)
Lower the blade toward the center of the disk to disengage the mid-span shroud.
(f)
Move the blade forward and out of the dovetail slot blade.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THESE MARKS SHOW ON THE HUB OF THE FAN
_______ DISK: "SHIMS REQUIRED" AND "DISK REPAIRED". ENGINE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW CORRECT PROCEDURES FOR ENGINES WITH CFMI SB 72-621 OR CFMI SB 72-820.
(g)
ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820); Remove the shims from the root of the fan blades.
(h)
ENGINES WITH DAMPERS; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543); As you remove the dampers, keep each damper with its fan blade.
(i)
If it is necessary, move the adjacent blade forward as follows: 1) Pull the spacer from the adjacent blade forward.
NOTE: If it is necessary, use a puller adapter , slide

2) Move the blade forward in the dovetail slot until you can release the blade. 3) Lower the blade radially in to disengage the mid-span shroud. 4) Move the slide blade forward in the dovetail slot until you can release the blade to be removed. 5) Keep the blades, spacers, and retainers in a safe location.
(j) Do these steps to remove the remaining blades: 1) Move the spacer forward until you can release the retainer.
NOTE: If it is necessary, use a puller adapter, slide

hammer, and a rod.
2) Lift the blade retainer out of the fan disk. 3) Lower the blade toward disk center to disengage the
mid-span shroud. 4) Move the blade forward out of the dovetail slot blade. 5) ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK;
(ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820); Remove the shims from the root of the fan blades.
6) ENGINES WITH DAMPERS; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543); Remove the dampers.
(k) Clean the blade dovetails, mid-span shrouds, and dovetail slots with alcohol and a stiff-bristle brush.
