NOTE: On airplanes with EGT transitory overtemperature capability
____ or Service Bulletin, no maintenance action is necessary when the maximum EGT is between 930 and 940 degrees C for less than 20 seconds when takeoff or go around power is set (Fig. 611, Sheet 2). Refer to Boeing Service Letter 737-SL-72-006 for more information.
(a) If the point is in Area A: 1) Make a visual inspection of the inlet and the exhaust before the subsequent flight:
2) Identify and correct the cause for the EGT overtemperature at the earliest opportunity. a) Use the applicable troubleshooting procedures to
determine the cause as necessary (AMM 71-00-42/101).
b) If one more exceedance occurs before the cause has been identified, identify the cause before the subsequent flight and correct (if possible) before the subsequent flight.
c) If the cause has been identified and corrected, 10 more exceedances in Area A are permitted.
3) If the cause for the EGT overtemperature is unknown or if the cause for the EGT overtemperature cannot be corrected on wing--this include engine deterioration--use the limit that follows: a) A maximum of 10 exceedances in Areas A and B combined
are permitted before the engine must be removed for an overtemperature inspection (AMM 71-00-02/401).
(b) If the point is in Area B: 1) Make a visual inspection of the inlet and the exhaust before the subsequent flight.
2) Identify and correct the cause for the EGT overtemperature at the earliest opportunity. a) Use the applicable troubleshooting procedures to
determine the cause as necessary (AMM 71-00-42/101).
b) If one more exceedance occurs before the cause has been identified, identify the cause before the subsequent flight and correct, if possible, before the subsequent flight.

Engine Operations Above the Limits and High Engine Stress Inspection
_____________________________________________________________________ 3) If the cause cannot be identified, do a borescope inspection of the HPT blades and the 1st-Stage LPT blades before the subsequent flight a) You can defer the borescope inspection for up to 10 cycles if no more exceedances occur. b) Use the limits from the applicable section of the borescope inspection. c) Do a Power Assurance Test before the engine goes back into service (AMM 71-00-00/501). 4) If the cause for the EGT overtemperature cannot be corrected on wing--this include engine deterioration--then refer to the subsequent step 5) A maximum of 10 exceedances in Areas A and B combined are permitted before the engine must be removed for an overtemperature inspection (AMM 71-00-02/401).
(c) If the point is in Area C:
NOTE: If the EGT exceedance was 5 seconds or more in Area C
____ you must remove the engine for an overtemperature inspection before the next 15 cycles.
If the exceedance was less than 5 seconds in Area C, use the limits for Area B if you obey these steps:
-
You find and correct the cause of the exceedance.
-
You do a borescope inspection of the HPT and 1st-Stage LPT blades before the next 10 cycles.
-
You have a successful Power Assurance Test before the engine goes back in service.
1) Make a visual inspection of the inlet and the exhaust before the subsequent flight.
2) Identify and correct the cause for the EGT overtemperature before the subsequent flight. a) Use the applicable troubleshooting procedures to
determine the cause as necessary (AMM 71-00-42/101).
b) If the cause cannot be identified, do a borescope inspection of the HPT blades and the 1st-Stage LPT blades before the subsequent flight.
1.
Use the limits from the applicable section of the
_ borescope inspection.
2.
Do a Power Assurance Test before the engine goes
_ back into service (AMM 71-00-00/501).
3) Remove the engine for an overtemperature inspection (AMM 71-00-02/401). a) You must remove the engine for an EGT overtemperature
inspection before a maximum of 15 cycles from when the first exceedance in Area C occurred. b) If one more exceedance occurs before the 15 cycle limit, follow the instrucions given for Area D.
