HPT Blades and Shrouds and 1st-Stage LPT NGV's - Inspection
___________________________________________________________
4) Blades that have cracks or missing material in the tip area of the trailing edge. a) Refer to the limits for the tip area of the HPT blade.
NOTE: The tip area at the trailing edge is not more
____ than 0.30 inch (7.62 mm) from the trailing edge and down to the 2nd trailing edge slot below the tip cap/tip shelf.
5) Blocked T/E air slots in area C are not serviceable. 6) One blocked T/E air slot in area B is permitted. 7) One blocked T/E air slot in area A is permitted. 8) If there are no cracks or torn metal, there is no limit to
the quantity of nicks and dents in area A.
9) Three nicks and dents in areas B and C are permitted if: a) They are less than 0.05 inch (1.27 mm) in length. b) They have a separation of a minimum of 0.125 inch
(3.20 mm) c) There is no torn metal or cracks.
(c) Examine the tip area of the blades.
1) Blades that have worn areas, missing material, bends or curls. a) On the two blades with notches, make a record of the
estimated depth of the wear notches.
NOTE: 2 blades, 90 degrees apart, have notches to
____ indicate the level of blade rub. If you can or cannot see the notches the condition is serviceable.
The tip clearance can be used for reference to find causes for EGT margin and other trends.
b) There is no limit to the quantity of damage if the internal cooling passages are not seen.

HPT Blades and Shrouds and 1st-Stage LPT NGV's - Inspection
___________________________________________________________ c) There is no limit to the quantity of missing material or cracks for these conditions:
1.
The missing material below the tip cap/shelf is not
_ more than 0.30 inch (7.6 mm) from the trailing edge or does not extend into the cavity rib.
2.
The missing material does not extend into the
_ second trailing edge slot below the tip cap/tip shelf.
d) A maximum service extension of 20 cycles is permitted if the wear does not extend below the 2nd slot below the tip cap/tip shelf.
2) Blades that have radial cracks from the tip on the convex side.
NOTE: The limits for missing material also apply.
____
a) There is no limit to the number of cracks if the cracks are less than 0.20 inch (5.1 mm) in length.
b) If the crack is between 0.20-0.35 inch (5.1-8.9 mm) long, the borescope inspection should be repeated every 800 cycles.
c) If the crack is between 0.35-0.50 inch (8.9-12.7 mm) long, the borescope inspection should be repeated every 200 cycles.
d) A maximum service extension of 10 cycles is permitted if any of the cracks is more than 0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in length.
3) Blades that have radial cracks from the tip on the concave side. a) There is no maximum limit if they are less than
0.50 inch (12.7 mm) in radial length.
b) A maximum service extension of 10 cycles is permitted if the radial tip cracks are less than 0.60 inch
