HPT Blades and Shrouds and 1st-Stage LPT NGV's - Inspection
___________________________________________________________ ú 3) One radial crack for one vane of a segment is permitted if ú it is less than 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) in length and less than ú 0.004 inch (0.1 mm) in width. ú 4) A maximum service extension of 100 cycles is permitted if: ú a) There is only one axial crack for each vane that is ú more than 1.5 inch (38.0 mm) in length on all the vanes ú of the same nozzle segment. ú b) All other cracks are less than 1.5 inch (38.0 mm) in ú length. ú c) There is only one radial crack that is more than 1.0 ú inch (25.4 mm) in length.
 (c)  
Burns

 1)  There is no limit to the maximum quantity if there is no missing material.

 (d)  
A maximum service extension of 25 cycles is permitted for material that is melted or missing, or for cracks or burns that are through the vanes.

Nicks, marks, scratches or dents in the concave or convex surfaces and the leading or trailing edges are permitted with no limits.

Examine the inner or outer platform for cracks:

 (a)  
Two cracks are permitted for each segment if they are less than

 0.5 inch (12.7 mm) in length and no metal goes in the gaspath.

 (b)  
A maximum service extension of 3 cycles is permitted if the cracks are less than 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) in length and are not found in more than 2 adjacent segments.

Adjust the rigid borescope in the S17 port to see the HPT shrouds.

Examine the HPT shrouds for these conditions (Fig. 607):


 (a)  Cracks 1) No maximum limit to the number of cracks on the surface. 2) No maximum number and length of axial cracks that do not
 connect.
 3)  Three circumferential cracks for each segment are permitted if they are less than 0.4 inch (10 mm) in length and have a minimum separation of 0.5 inch (13 mm).
 4)  A maximum service extension of 10 cycles is permitted if cracks are connected or extend across the axial width of the shroud.
 (b)  Material with burns and erosion
 1)  There is no limit to the maximum quantity if there are no holes through the shroud and no material that extends in the gaspath.

 (7)  Examine the space between the aft end of the HPT shroud and the forward end of the 1st Stage LPT NGV outer platform and look for the conditions that follow (Fig. 607):
 (a)  HPT aft stator seals that extend into the gas path.
 NOTE: The HPT aft stator seals are approximately 0.01
____ inch (0.25 mm) thick material.
 1)  There is no limit to the maximum quantity if the HPT blade trailing edge wear does not extend into the tip cap and no HPT shrouds extend into the gas path.
 2)  A maximum service extension of 25 cycles is permitted if the damage is not in the limits.
 (b) Retainer or retainer segments that extend into the gas path.
 NOTE: The retainer or retainer segments are approximately

 0.08 inch (2.03 mm) thick material.
