 5. Combustion Chamber or HPT Nozzle Guide Vanes - Inspection
_________________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  This task gives the data for two inspections: the combustion chamber and the HPT nozzle guide vanes. These two inspections can be done at the same time or at different times, as necessary for engine maintenance.

 D. Do the Combustion Chamber or HPT Nozzle Guide Vanes Inspection

 (1)  
If not already done, do the procedure to prepare the airplane for the inspection.

 (2)  
Remove the borescope plugs found at the 6 (S14) and 10 (S15) o'clock positions immediately forward of the fuel manifold (Fig. 606, 606C).

 (3)  
Do an inspection of the combustion chamber as follows:


 (a)  Put a rigid borescope (with a 90° right angle viewer and 60° field of vision) or a flexible borescope through a minimum of two ports.
 NOTE: It is not recommended to use the port at the 3 o'clock
____ position. If it is used, you must first remove the fuel tube. After the inspection, you must also do a leak check.
 (b)  
If you see damage with the rigid borescope, you must remove all of the borescope plugs and the two spark igniters.

 (c)  
If you see damage with the flexible borescope, you should examine the combustion chamber fully.

 (4)  Turn the borescope 360° and adjust it until you can examine these items:
 (a)  
The combustion chamber surfaces

 (b)  
The dome of the combustion chamber

 (c)  
The fuel nozzle
