(c)
Calculate the differences.
 1) Refer to Fig. 408 for an example.

 (d)
Do the cleaning, inspection and relubrication of the fan
 blades, fan disk, and related components (AMM 72-31-02/201).

 CAUTION: BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE DAMPERS, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO##
_______ ELASTOMER STRIP UNDER THE PLATFORM (CONVEX SIDE). THE FAN BLADE DAMPERS CANNOT BE INSTALLED WITH THE FAN BLADE MOMENT WEIGHT CORRECTED WITH A ELASTOMER STRIP BONDED UNDER THE CONVEX SIDE PLATFORM. IN THIS CASE REPLACE THE FAN BLADE.
 (e)
ENGINES WITH DAMPERS;
 (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543);
 Install a damper below the 2 adjacent blade platforms.

 (f)
Turn the fan disk until the blade slot is at the 6 o'clock
 position.

 (g)
ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK;
 (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820);
 Make sure that these marks show on the hub of the fan disk:
 "SHIMS REQUIRED" and "DISK REPAIRED".

 CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HANDLE THE SHIMS. THEY ARE THIN AND ARE EASILY DAMAGED. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU INSTALL THE SHIMS ON THE FAN BLADE ROOTS. THE COATING ON THE FAN BLADES AND THE SHIMS IS EASILY DAMAGED. OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 1)  Put a shim on the fan blade before you install it (Fig. 402).
 (h)
Install the blade in the fan disk and at the same time apply
 hand force to hold the adjacent blades apart.

 (i)
Engage the mid-span shroud with the adjacent blades.

 (j)
Install the retainer in a slot perpendicular to the dovetail
 slot at the front of the disk.

 (k)
Install the spacer below the fan blade and at the same time
 engage the retainer.
 1) ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK;

 (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-820 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-621); Install a black spacer below the fan blade and at the same time engage the retainer (Fig. 402).##

 (l)
Move the spacer fully aft.

 1)  ENGINES WITH DAMPERS; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543); Install a damper correctly below the blade platform (Fig. 402).
 S 434-014-C00
 (4)  Install the spinner front and rear cones (AMM 72-31-01/401).

 (5)  Do the imbalance correction.
 (a)  Calculate the difference of the moment-weights between the new fan blade and its opposite.
 NOTE: If the difference is equal to or less than 50.0
____ gram-inches (127.0 gm-cm), no correction is necessary.
 If the difference is more than 50.0 gram-inches
 (127.0 gm-cm), refer to Figure 407.
 (b)
Get the applicable balance screws.

 (c)
If the old screws that were removed are not P07, calculate the new screw sizes.

 CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE FAN BLADES DO NOT TOUCH THE TOOLS. CRACKS CAN OCCUR IN THE BLADES. DO NOT USE RATCHETING TOOLS WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE BALANCE SCREWS.

 (d)
Remove the old screws and install the new balance screws to remove the moment-weight difference.

 (e)
Tighten the screw to 65-75 pound-inches
 (7.5-8.5 Newton meters).

 NOTE: The balance screws have numbers
____ (P01-P02-P03-P04-P05-P06-P07) which show the balance-weight of the screw. If you cannot get the number from the screw because of erosion, use Fig. 404 to get the relation between the screw number and the screw length.
 (f)
If the spare blade is lighter than the removed blade, install the balance screws near the replaced blade location. 1) Or, if it is possible, remove the equivalent screws near
