The mating surfaces of the flanges of the hose must be installed at 90 degrees to each other.


 WARNING: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE OR HOSE
_______ COUPLING NUTS; ONE TO HOLD THE NIPPLE FITTING AND ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT. DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (r)  
Make sure the fasteners are installed correctly when tightened to the specified value.

 (s)  
Attach lockwire, CP8001 or CP8006, to the connection.


 NOTE: Make sure the lockwire is corrosion resistant steel.

ENGINE - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
_______
 A.  The first procedure gives the equipment and steps that are necessary for the borescope inspection.
 B.  The borescope inspections have these procedures:
 (1)  
The low pressure compressor (LPC) (1st- thru 4th-stage) inspection

 (2)  
The high pressure compressor (HPC) (1st- thru 9th-stage) inspection

 (3)  
The combustion chamber or the nozzle guide vanes (NGV's) for the high pressure turbine (HPT) inspections

 (4)  
The combustion chamber inspection after a birdstrike

 (5)  
The high pressure turbine (HPT) rotor blades and shrouds and the nozzle guide vanes (NGV's) for the 1st-stage low pressure turbine (LPT)

 (6)  
The low pressure turbine (LPT) inspection.


 C.  You will do these unusual condition inspections when you think that one of these incidents have occured:
 (1)  
The foreign object damage (FOD) inspection

 (2)  
The inspection after an engine fire, use of fire extinquishing agents, or high nacelle temperature

 (3)  
The inspection when the usual operational limits have not been obeyed


 D.  The last inspection gives the steps to put the airplane back to its usual condition after the gaspath inspections.
 E.  For this procedure, the nozzle guide vanes will be referred to as the NGV's.

 2. Prepare for the Borescope Inspection

 A. General
 (1)  This procedure gives the equipment and steps that are necessary to prepare for the borescope inspection.
 NOTE: If the airplane has been operating in a dirty environment, it
____ may be necessary to wash the gas path (AMM 72-00-00/701) before borescope inspection to clearly see cracks and other damage.
 (2)  Access for the equipment is through borescope ports at different locations on the engine (Fig. 601).

 NOTE: Refer to the CFMI Illustrated Tool and Equipment Manual for
