 NOTE:____ A vibration survey can be done at the operator's discretion when the fan blades are replaced or when the same fan blade set is installed again. The survey results will show if it is necessary to do the Fan Trim Balance or if the installation is correct (AMM 72-31-00/501).
 NOTE:____ If the vibration survey results show a fan blade imbalance greater than 400 gram cm (157.5 gram inches), do the Vibration Survey again after you do the static correction of the blades. Refer to figure 407.

FAN ROTOR BLADES - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure has the two tasks that follow:
 (1)  
The inspection of the fan rotor blades with the blades installed.

 (2)  
The inspection of the fan rotor blades and the first-stage disk with the blades removed.


 B.  All inspection limits in this procedure show the maximum permitted serviceable limits.
 (1)  
For limits given to 0.1 mm, the tolerance is |0.05 mm.

 (2)  
You can repair the damage which is more than the specified limits if you obey the limits in the procedure (AMM 72-31-02/801) or replace the component if it is necessary.

 (3)  
Use the inspection procedure for fluorescent penetrant (AMM 70-40-01/201) to examine possible cracks.

 (4)  
Depth limits are applicable after the removal of the high metal from the damaged area.


 C.  Refer to AMM 70-00-01/201 for the technical terms and abbreviations used in this procedure.
 D.  It is necessary to remove the fan blade (AMM 72-31-02/401) for a full fan blade inspection.

 2.  Fan Rotor Blades Inspection (With Blades Installed)

 A.  Equipment
 (1)  Protective mats (quantity 2) -Rubber Manufacturer's Association Grade SC43,
 neoprene sponge, 1 inch thick,
 approximately 3 x 4 feet with warning streamer
 attached
