Write the moment-weight class codes from the bottom of the removed blades.


 NOTE: If you cannot see the moment-weight identifications,
____ clean the bottom of the blade with the isopropyl alcohol.
 (d)  
Write the moment-weight and the moment-weight class code from the bottom of the spare blades.

 (e)  
When you install the fan blades, put the heavier spare blade in the location of the heavier original blade.

 (f)  
Turn the fan until the disk slot of the fan blade is at the 12 o'clock position.


 WARNING: DO NOT LET THE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL GET INTO YOUR MOUTH OR
_______ EYES. KEEP THE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AWAY FROM THE SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT.
 (g)  Do the cleaning, inspection and relubrication of the fan blade, fan disk, and related components (AMM 72-31-02/201).
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE SHEET METAL OF THE DAMPER TOUCHES THE
_______ BLADE PLATFORM CORRECTLY. IF THE SHEET METAL DOES NOT TOUCH THE PLATFORM FULLY, THE DAMPER WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
 CAUTION: BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE DAMPERS, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO##
_______ ELASTOMER STRIP UNDER THE PLATFORM (CONVEX SIDE). THE FAN BLADE DAMPERS CANNOT BE INSTALLED WITH THE FAN BLADE MOMENT WEIGHT CORRECTED WITH A ELASTOMER STRIP BONDED UNDER THE CONVEX SIDE PLATFORM. IN THIS CASE REPLACE THE FAN BLADE.
 (h)  ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820); Remove the shim from the root of the fan blade.

(i)  ENGINES WITH DAMPERS; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543); Install a damper correctly below the 2 adjacent blade platforms (Fig. 402).
 CAUTION: TO INSTALL SHIMS IN CORRECT POSITION, SLIDE THE AFT BLADE
_______ ROOT IN THE SHIM. THE HIGH AFT EDGE OF SHIM MUST BE INSTALL ON THE AFT SIDE OF THE BLADE SHANK. OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 (j)  ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820); Make sure that these marks show on the hub of the fan disk: "SHIMS REQUIRED" and "DISK REPAIRED".
 CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HANDLE THE SHIMS. THEY ARE THIN AND ARE EASILY DAMAGED. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU INSTALL THE SHIMS ON THE FAN BLADE ROOTS. THE COATING ON THE FAN BLADES AND THE SHIMS IS EASILY DAMAGED. OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 CAUTION: TO INSTALL SHIMS IN CORRECT POSITION, SLIDE THE AFT
_______ BLADE ROOT IN THE SHIM. THE HIGH AFT EDGE OF SHIM MUST BE INSTALL ON THE AFT SIDE OF THE BLADE SHANK. OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 1)  Put a shim on each of the fan blades before you install it (Fig. 402).
 (k) Install a pair of fan blades: 1) Turn the fan disk until the blade slot is at the 12 o'clock position. 2) Install the blade in the fan disk and at the same time apply hand force and hold the adjacent blades apart. 3) Engage the mid-span shroud with the adjacent blades. 4) Install the retainer in a slot perpendicular to the dovetail slot at the front of the disk. 5) Install the spacer below the fan blade and at the same time engage the retainer. 6) ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK; ENGINES WITH CFMI SB 72-820 AND SB 72-621; Install a black spacer below the fan blade and at the same time engage the retainer (Fig. 402).## 7) Move the spacer fully aft.
 8)  ENGINES WITH DAMPERS;
 (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543);
 Install a damper correctly below the blade platform
 (Fig. 402).
