 3. Two-Plane Trim Balance

 A. General
 (1)  
It is recommended that this procedure only be tried if the fan trim balance procedure does not decrease the TRF vibration levels sufficiently. Most engines will be sufficiently balanced with the fan trim balance procedures only.

 (2)  
This two-plane balance procedure can also be used to decrease the vibration levels more than the given limts.

 CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO BALANCE THE LPT IF THE FAN WAS NOT BALANCED TO

 (1)  If the last result of a fan trim balance procedure is not satisfactory, you must balance the fan again to give the lowest vibration level on No. 1 bearing (or FFCCV) sensor.

 (2)  Do the steps that follow to calculate the balance weights.
 (a)  Write the data that follows on a new worksheet (Fig. 511).
 1) Write the sensitivity and phase lag values for the No. 1

 intervectorial analysis procedure (three sets).

 NOTE: If the intervectorial procedure was not done, use

____ the applicable sensitivity and phase lag values that you got during the vector analysis procedure.
 2)  Write the values of vibration amplitudes (UO) and phase angles (AO) for the No. 1 bearing only (or FFCCV) that you
__________________ got during the initial engine run of the one-shot plot procedure.
 NOTE: Use the values that are related to the same N1
____ speeds as the values that you claculated during the intervectorial (or vector) analysis procedure.

 (3)  Replace the weights you installed before the last engine run with the screws you wrote on Fig. 502.

 70-75 pound-inches (8.0-8.5 Newton meters).

 (4)  Use the data you wrote (on Fig. 511), calculate the imbalance weight W5 at angle A5 with the one-shot plot procedure.
 NOTE: The procedure is done with only three data points.

 CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE THE ENGINE AT SPEEDS THAT CAUSE A VIBRATION
_______ LEVEL ON THE TRF SENSOR THAT IS MORE THAN 8 MILS. IF YOU OPERATE THE ENGINE AT VIBRATION LEVELS THAT ARE MORE THAN 8 MILS, YOU CAN CAUSE ENGINE PERFORMANCE DETERIORIZATION.
 (5)  With the one-shot procedure, do the steps that follow.
 (a)  
Calculate new balance screws.

 (b)  
Install the new balance screws.
