ENGINES WITH DAMPERS;
(ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543);
Remove the dampers.
(i)
If it is necessary, move the adjacent blade forward as follows: 1) Pull the spacer from the adjacent blade forward.
NOTE: If it is necessary, use the puller adapter, slide
____
hammer, and rod.
2) Remove the retainer. 3) Lower the blade radially in to disengage the mid-span shroud. 4) Move the blade forward in the dovetail slot until you can release the blade.
(j)
Turn the fan 180 degrees.
(k)
Do these steps to remove the opposite fan blade: 1) Move the spacer forward until you can release the retainer.
NOTE: If it is necessary, use the puller adapter, slide
____
hammer, and rod.
2) Lift the blade retainer out of the fan disk. 3) Lower the blade to the disk center to disengage the mid-span shroud. 4) Move the blade forward and out of the dovetail slot to remove the blade.
5) ENGINES WITH A REBROACHED FAN DISK; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-621 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-820); Remove the shim from the root of the fan blade.
6) ENGINES WITH DAMPERS; (ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 72-494 AND POST-CFMI-SB 72-543); Remove the dampers.

CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL FAN BLADES WITH 25 DEGREE AND 37 DEGREE
_______ MIDSPAN SHROUDS ON THE SAME ENGINE. FAN BLADES WITH 37 DEGREE MIDSPAN SHROUDS (CFMI SB 72-494 OR CFMI SB 72-543) HAVE THE LETTER "N" ON THE BLADE PLATFORM IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE MOMENT WEIGHT. ENGINE FAILURE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Get a pair of spare fan blades with the correct mid-span shroud.
NOTE:____ Spare blades are kept in pairs so that the difference
between their moment weight is not more than 50
gram-inches (127 g-cm). However, the inspections and
corrections given below must be done before and after
the blade installation to make sure the engine imbalance
is not more than the limits. This will also optimize
the engine operation. Four conditions can exist. Refer
to Figure 401.
NOTE:____ In all four blade replacement conditions and for
individual fan blade replacement, a vibration survey can be performed. The results from the vibration survey will determine if a trim balance is necessary.
NOTE: If 6 to 19 pairs of fan blades are changed or the
____ resultant is greater than 157.5 gram-inches (400cm g), perform a trim balance if the aircraft is at the main base or as soon as the aircraft returns to the main base (AMM 72-31-00/501).
NOTE: The digit numbers (1) through (100) on the upper front
____ face on the platform are the moment weight class code. The difference between two adjacent moment weight class codes is 50 gram-inches.
NOTE: The 5 digit number engraved on the lower face of the
____ blade root close to the part identification numbers (part number and serial number) is the fan rotor blade moment weight value. This value (example: 31628) is expressed in gram-inches.
