(a) Cracks in the leading or trailing edge 1) No maximum limit to the quantity if they are less than
0.4 inch (10.2 mm) in length (1/4 of the chord length) on all the vanes of the same nozzle segment.
NOTE: A nozzle segment has six vanes.
____
2) One crack for each vane is permitted for a maximum of two vanes of the same nozzle segment if they are more than
0.8
inch (20.3 mm) (1/2 of the chord length) but less than
1.0
inch (25.4 mm) in length.
a) At least one vane for each nozzle segment must be in the limits of the first step above.

LPT Nozzle Guide Vanes (2nd thru 4th Stage) - Inspection
________________________________________________________ 3) A maximum service extension of 100 cycles is permitted if: a) There is only one crack for each vane that is more than
0.8 inch (20.3 mm) in length on all the vanes of the same nozzle segment.
b) All other cracks are less than 0.8 inch (20.3 mm) in length.
(b)
Burns
1) There is no limit to the maximum quantity if there is no material gone.
(c)
A maximum service extension of 25 cycles is permitted for material that is melted or gone, or for cracks or burns that are through the vanes.
S 216-089-C00
(5) Nicks, marks, scratches or dents in the concave or convex surfaces and the leading or trailing edges are permitted with no limits.
(a) If you see a gold coloration of the 2nd Stage LPT nozzle segmemts, do an inspection of the fuel filter cartridge (AMM 73-11-02/601).
S 416-096-C00
CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT BORESCOPE PLUG IN THE CORRECT
_______ LOCATION. THE BORESCOPE PLUG TO THE LPT STAGE 1 AND COMBUSTION CASE HAVE THE SAME THREAD SIZE. THE STEM OF THE BORESCOPE PLUG TO THE LPT STAGE 1 NOZZLE WILL BE BURNED AWAY IF IT IS INSTALLED IN THE BORESCOPE PORT TO THE COMBUSTION CASE.
(6)
Do these steps to install the borescope plugs (Fig. 606A):
(a)
Apply a light layer of graphite grease (CP2101) on the borescope plug threads and the mating surfaces.
(b)
Install in the borescope ports.
(c)
Tighten the plugs to 57-63 pound-inches (6.4-7.1 Newton meters).
(d)
Put a lockwire on the plug.
