FAN ROTOR BLADES - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This procedure gives the data for the lubrication of the fan rotor blades and the fan disk.
B. This procedure will decrease the wear on the blade blade and/or fan disk, and also can decrease the engine vibration, which occurs when the fan blades become seized in the disk.
C. Lubrication of the fan disk and fan blades will also increase the service life of these components.

2. Lubrication of Fan Rotor Blades and Fan Disk Dovetails______________________________________________________
A. Equipment
(1)
Protective mats (2 are necessary) -P T P Pad (Sewn Construction) (V53912), or
Neoprene sponge, 1.0 inch thick, approximately 3.0 x 4.0 feet with warning streamer attached.
(2)
Fan disk dovetail fretting/wear inspection
tool, 856A6629
(3)
Brush - soft bristle (local purchase).

Isopropyl Alcohol - CP1041.

(2) Open these circuit breakers:
(a) Main Power Distribution Panel P6
1) ENG 1 START VALVE
2) ENG 2 START VALVE

CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE MATS IN THE INLET COWL. THIS WILL GIVE PROTECTION FROM TOOLS, PARTS, OR UNWANTED MATERIAL THAT FALL ON THE INLET COWL.
(3) Install protective mats on the lower surface in the inlet cowl.
(a) Make sure you apply tape to attach the mats to the inlet cowl.
F. Lubrication of the Fan Rotor Blades and Fan Disk

Make a mark on the fan blades to show their position on the fan disk.

Remove the fan blades (AMM 72-31-02/401).
