S 424-007
(1) Install the overtemperature thermocouple:
(a)
Put the thermocouple through the hole in the exhaust baffle.
(b)
Install the grommet.

(c) Install the thermocouple in the mounting flange.
1) Use a sufficient quantity of the shim washers below the collar to give a 0.10-0.20 inch (2.5-5.1 mm) clearance between the retainer and the mounting flange.
2) Install the thermocouple such that the flat side with the A points to the rear of the engine (the short thermocouple probe points to the front of the engine).
(d)
Put the retainer and the two washers in their position on the thermocouple.
(e)
Apply a layer of the antiseize compound to the threads of the bolt.
(f)
Install the bolt with the washer.
1) Tighten the bolt to 50-70 pound-inches (5.7-7.9 newton-meters).
(g)
Attach the thermocouple cable to the tube assemblies with the clamps. 1) Make sure the thermocouple cable does not touch the
adjacent lines, components, or the structure.
(h)
Connect the electrical connector to the overtemperature control switch.

CAUTION: KEEP A MINIMUM CLEARANCE OF 0.18 INCHES (5 MM) BETWEEN THE
_______ ENGINE, THE FIRE DETECTOR, THE CLAMPS, AND THE LOWER SHROUD.
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR. DAMAGE TO THE

(b)
Put the door support rods in the clips on the APU cowl door.
(c)
Close the APU cowl door.
(d)
Close the latches for the APU cowl door.

(4) Set the circuit breaker and the switch:
(a)
Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit
(b)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the APU master switch on the P5 forward overhead panel.
