(b) Dry the igniter plug with the clean compressed air.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE HARD GRIT OR A STEEL BRUSH TO CLEAN THE IGNITER

PLUG. DAMAGE TO THE PLUG CAN OCCUR.
(c)
Clean all the unwanted materials off the igniter plug with a brush that has brass bristles.
(d)
Blow all the loose material off the igniter plug with the clean compressed air that is not moist.

(3) Install the igniter plug (AMM 49-41-51/401).

IGNITER CABLE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure gives the steps to remove and to install the igniter cable. The igniter cable connects the igniter plug on the combustion chamber cap to the ignition unit.

B. Procedure
S 864-002
(1) Set the switch and the circuit breaker:
(a)
Set the APU master switch, on the P5 forward overhead panel, to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) E3-3 Electrical Shelf, APU Control Unit

(2) Open the APU cowl door:
(a)
Open the latches for the APU cowl door.
(b)
Open the APU cowl door.
(c)
Connect the door support rods.

CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LOWER SHROUD. DAMAGE TO THE SHROUD DRAIN LINES CAN OCCUR.
(3) Remove the lower shroud:
(a)
Hold the lower shroud and open the shroud latches.
(b)
Remove the lower shroud.

WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE IGNITION COMPONENTS UNTIL YOU DO THESE STEPS.
_______ THESE STEPS WILL RELEASE THE HIGH VOLTAGE FROM THE IGNITION UNIT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PROCEDURE, INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
(4) Do these steps to release the high voltage from the ignition unit:
(a)
Make sure 5 minutes have gone by since the last APU start.
(b)
Disconnect the igniter cable from the igniter plug.
(c)
Ground the igniter cable to the APU.
